Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Dominica — Welcome to Nature Island

Arrive at Douglas-Charles Airport. Transfer through the lush interior to your eco-lodge near Roseau. Dominica is unlike any other Caribbean island — 365 rivers, 9 active volcanoes, and the world’s second-largest boiling lake. Welcome fresh coconut water and orientation. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 2: Boiling Lake — The Ultimate Caribbean Hike

One of the Caribbean’s most epic day hikes: the Boiling Lake Trail in Morne Trois Pitons National Park (UNESCO World Heritage). The 6-8 hour round trip traverses the Valley of Desolation — a surreal landscape of steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pots, and multicolored mineral deposits. At the end: the Boiling Lake, a flooded fumarole 200 feet across where the grey-blue water literally boils at 197°F (92°C) — the second-largest boiling lake on Earth. Afternoon: well-deserved soak in natural hot springs. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 3: Trafalgar Falls & Titou Gorge

Morning at Trafalgar Falls — twin waterfalls (Father and Mother) plunging 125 and 75 feet respectively into natural rock pools. Soak in the warm mineral waters at the base. Afternoon at Titou Gorge, a narrow canyon where you swim through crystal-clear mountain water between towering rock walls to a hidden waterfall — a scene so dramatic it was used in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 4: Emerald Pool & Kalinago Territory

Morning visit to Emerald Pool, a stunning waterfall and emerald-green pool in the heart of the rainforest — one of Dominica’s most photographed spots and part of the UNESCO site. Afternoon: visit the Kalinago Territory, home to the largest remaining population of indigenous Carib (Kalinago) people in the Caribbean. Tour a traditional village, see cassava bread being made, and learn about Kalinago culture from community members. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 5: Champagne Reef & Marine Discovery

Morning snorkeling at Champagne Reef — one of the Caribbean’s most unique underwater experiences. Volcanic geothermal vents release thousands of tiny bubbles through the seafloor, making you feel like you’re swimming in a glass of champagne. The warm water attracts abundant marine life: parrotfish, seahorses, octopus, and hawksbill turtles. Afternoon: whale watching in the deep waters off Dominica’s coast. Dominica is the whale watching capital of the Caribbean with year-round sperm whale residents. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 6: Indian River & Cabrits National Park

Morning boat tour up the Indian River — a scene that inspired Pirates of the Caribbean (the witch’s hut still stands on the bank). Your guide poles the boat silently through the mangrove forest as you spot herons, iguanas, and land crabs. Afternoon: visit Cabrits National Park and Fort Shirley, an 18th-century British garrison with spectacular views over Prince Rupert Bay. Short hike through the park’s dry forest ecosystem. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 7: Middleham Falls & Freshwater Lake

Morning hike to Middleham Falls, Dominica’s tallest waterfall at 200+ feet, plunging into a deep pool surrounded by pristine rainforest. The trail winds through giant fern trees, orchids, and moss-covered boulders. Afternoon at Freshwater Lake, Dominica’s largest lake at 2,500 feet elevation — kayaking on the misty mountain lake with views of the Atlantic coast. Farewell dinner of Dominican Creole cuisine. Overnight near Roseau.

Day 8: Depart Dominica

Morning visit to the Botanic Gardens in Roseau — one of the few places you can see a crushed school bus, flattened by a massive baobab tree during Hurricane David in 1979. Transfer to airport.
