Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Managua – Transfer to Granada
Upon arrival at Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA), your guide will greet you and provide a private transfer to Granada (approximately 1 hour). After hotel check-in, enjoy a welcome orientation walk through Granada’s colorful streets. In the evening, explore the vibrant Parque Central, admire the yellow Granada Cathedral, and dine at one of the city’s charming restaurants along La Calzada pedestrian street.

Day 2: Granada Colonial Walking Tour & Las Isletas Boat Cruise
Morning: After breakfast, embark on a guided walking tour of Granada, one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas (founded 1524). Visit the San Francisco Church and Convent, climb the bell tower of Iglesia La Merced for panoramic views of the city and Lake Nicaragua, and explore the local market where artisans sell handmade crafts, hammocks, and leather goods.
Afternoon: Board a private boat for a scenic cruise through Las Isletas — an archipelago of 365 volcanic islets formed by an ancient eruption of Mombacho Volcano. Spot tropical birds, visit Monkey Island, and enjoy views of the majestic Mombacho Volcano towering over the lake. Some islets feature luxurious private homes and small fishing communities.

Afternoon: Visit San Juan de Oriente village to see traditional pre-Columbian pottery techniques. As sunset approaches, drive to Masaya Volcano National Park, home to one of the world’s few persistently active lava lakes. Arrive before dusk to watch the landscape transform as the glowing lava becomes visible in the Santiago crater. The sight of molten lava bubbling and the sound of the volcano’s deep rumble create an unforgettable experience.
