Welcome to Nepal! Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Thamel. Nepal — home to 8 of the world’s 14 highest peaks, birthplace of Buddha, and a living museum of Hindu and Buddhist culture. Rest and acclimatize to the Himalayan altitude.

Day 2: Kathmandu UNESCO Treasures

  • Kathmandu Durbar Square — The historic heart of the capital, filled with pagoda-style temples, the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, and the Kumari Ghar (home of the Living Goddess — a young girl revered as a living deity)
  • Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) — 2,000-year-old stupa crowning a hilltop with the all-seeing eyes of Buddha and panoramic Kathmandu Valley views
  • Boudhanath Stupa — One of the largest spherical stupas in the world, the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. Join pilgrims on the kora and spin prayer wheels
  • Pashupatinath Temple — Nepal’s holiest Hindu site on the Bagmati River, with its distinctive two-tiered golden roof and silver doors

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara (200km, ~6hrs by road)

Scenic drive through the Middle Hills of Nepal — terraced rice fields, rushing rivers, and traditional villages. Option to take a 25-minute flight instead (spectacular Himalayan views). Arrive in Pokhara — Nepal’s adventure capital nestled beside the serene Phewa Lake with the magnificent Annapurna range as backdrop. Evening boat ride on Phewa Lake to the island temple of Tal Barahi.

Day 4: Pokhara — Sarangkot Sunrise & Mountain Views

  • Sarangkot Sunrise — Early morning drive to Sarangkot (1,600m). Watch the sun paint the Annapurna range in shades of gold and pink — Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Machapuchare (6,993m), and the entire Himalayan panorama. One of the world’s greatest mountain sunrises
  • Devi’s Falls — Underground waterfall named after a Swiss tourist who tragically drowned here
  • Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave — Sacred limestone cave with a hidden Shiva shrine
  • World Peace Pagoda — Boat across Phewa Lake, then hike up to this gleaming white stupa with stunning lake and mountain views
  • Bindabasini Temple — One of Pokhara’s oldest temples dedicated to Goddess Durga

Day 5: Pokhara to Chitwan National Park (150km, ~4hrs)

Drive through river valleys to Chitwan National Park — Nepal’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to the densest concentration of wildlife in Nepal. Afternoon:

  • Tharu Village Walk — Explore the unique culture of the indigenous Tharu people, known for their resistance to malaria and distinctive mud-wall houses
  • Rapti River Sunset — Watch the sun set over the river while crocodiles bask on sandbanks
  • Tharu Cultural Show — Evening performance of traditional stick dances and folk music

Day 6: Chitwan — Full-Day Jungle Safari

  • Dugout Canoe Ride — Glide silently down the Rapti River, watching for gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles, and over 500 species of birds including kingfishers, egrets, and hornbills
  • Jungle Walk — Trek through dense sal forest with experienced naturalist guides, tracking rhino footprints and learning about the ecosystem
  • Elephant Breeding Center — Visit the government-run center to see elephants and learn about conservation efforts
  • Jeep Safari — Venture deep into the park in a 4×4, maximizing your chances of spotting the Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bear, wild elephant, and spotted deer

Day 7: Chitwan to Kathmandu

Optional early morning bird watching walk. After breakfast, drive or fly back to Kathmandu (flight option: 20 minutes). Afternoon free for last-minute shopping in Thamel — prayer flags, pashmina shawls, singing bowls, and handmade paper products.
