Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Tripoli
Airport transfer. Afternoon: Tripoli Medina — Red Castle Museum, Roman-era Arch of Marcus Aurelius, Ottoman Gurgi Mosque, and the gold souq. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Tripoli.
Day 2: Leptis Magna — The Emperor’s Hometown
Full day at Leptis Magna (130km east) — the most complete Roman city outside Italy. Walk the Cardo Maximus, enter the Severan Forum, climb the 16,000-seat amphitheatre, explore the Hadrianic Baths with original mosaics, and visit the basilica and harbor. You’ll likely be the only visitors. Picnic lunch on site. Return to Tripoli.
Day 3: Sabratha & Jebel Nafusa
Morning: Sabratha (80km west) — the magnificent 3-story Roman theatre on the sea, exquisite mosaic floors, Temple of Isis, Byzantine basilicas. Afternoon: Jebel Nafusa — the Berber mountain villages with troglodyte cave dwellings and ancient ghorfas. Overnight in Tripoli.
Day 4: Departure
Morning at leisure. Optional: last visit to the Medina for souvenirs. Airport transfer.
