Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Dili Tour
Arrive in Dili. Afternoon guided city tour covering major historical landmarks: Resistance Museum detailing the independence struggle, Santa Cruz Cemetery, Tacitolu wetlands, and Cristo Rei statue at sunset. Overnight at Hotel Timor.
Day 2: Dili to Tutuala — The Eastern Frontier
Epic coastal drive east through Manatuto and Baucau towards Lautem municipality. Magnificent views of the Wetar Strait with mangroves, white sand beaches, and marble rock formations. Pass through traditional fishing villages. Stop at Laivai and Lautem’s pristine Caribbean-like beaches. Continue via Rasa, Iralalaro Lake, to Tutuala. Overnight at Pousada Tutuala.
Day 3: Jaco Island — Untouched Island Paradise
First, hike to the ancient Ilikerekere Rockwall to see prehistoric cave paintings. Then continue to Valu Beach for the boat journey to Jaco Island — an uninhabited sand island within Nino Konis Santana National Park. This is one of the world’s oldest inhabited regions, with archaeological finds dating back 42,000 years. Swim, snorkel, and explore this pristine paradise. Late lunch with Pacific Ocean views. Drive to Com for overnight at Kati Guesthouse.
Day 4: Com to Dili — Return Journey
Visit the Umunira fossilized lagoon before starting the return journey west along the north coast. Stop in Baucau for lunch at a traditional Portuguese-era restaurant. Pass through coastal fishing villages and stop at Dollar Beach. Arrive in Dili by afternoon. Overnight at Hotel Timor.
Day 5: Departure
Airport transfer for your flight home. You leave with memories of Southeast Asia’s most pristine and undiscovered island paradise.
