Itinerary Highlights
Day 1-2: Kyiv — Ancient Capital
Arrive and explore Kyiv. Pechersk Lavra, St. Sophia, Andriyivskyy Descent, Maidan. WWII Museum and Chernobyl Museum. Overnight in Kyiv (2 nights).
Day 3: Chernihiv — Ancient Rus’ City
Day trip to Chernihiv (2 hours), one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Visit the 11th-century Transfiguration Cathedral (one of Ukraine’s oldest churches), the 12th-century Boris and Gleb Cathedral, and the beautiful Anthony Caves monastery. Traditional lunch. Return to Kyiv. Overnight in Kyiv.
Day 4-5: Lviv — The Cultural Heart
High-speed train to Lviv. UNESCO old town exploration: Rynok Square, Armenian Quarter, Lychakiv Cemetery (one of Europe’s most beautiful with extraordinary sculptural tombs), and the Lviv Opera House. Hidden bar crawl. Overnight in Lviv (2 nights).
Day 6-7: Carpathian Mountains — Hutsul Country
Two days in the Carpathians. Day 6: drive to Verkhovyna, the heart of Hutsul culture. Visit the Museum of Hutsul Musical Instruments, try the trembita (the world’s longest musical instrument — an Alpine horn up to 4 meters), and hike through alpine meadows. Traditional sauna and Carpathian herbal tea. Day 7: full-day hike to Mount Hoverla (2,061m), Ukraine’s highest peak — challenging but achievable. Stunning views over the Carpathian ridge. Overnight in Carpathian guesthouses (2 nights).
Day 8: Kamianets-Podilskyi — The Fortress City
Drive to Kamianets-Podilskyi (4 hours), one of Eastern Europe’s most spectacular fortress cities. The medieval castle stands on a peninsula surrounded by a deep canyon — a natural fortress that was considered impregnable. Walk the castle walls, cross the Turkish Bridge spanning the Smotrych River canyon, and explore the beautifully preserved old town. Overnight in Kamianets-Podilskyi.
Day 9: Odesa — Black Sea Finale
Drive to Odesa (5 hours through the Podolian plains). Afternoon: Potemkin Steps, Opera House, Primorsky Boulevard, and the Odesa Catacombs. Farewell dinner at a legendary Odesa restaurant with Black Sea seafood and Moldovan wine. Overnight in Odesa.
Day 10: Depart Odesa
Morning at Privoz Market. Transfer to airport.
