Day 1: Arrive Asuncion

Welcome to Paraguay’s capital! Airport transfer to your hotel. Evening walk along the Costanera (riverfront) and dinner in the historic Loma San Jeronimo neighborhood. Overnight in Asuncion.

Day 2: Asuncion City Discovery

Full-day tour of Asuncion’s unique blend of modern and colonial architecture. Visit the Government Palace (Palacio de Lopez), the Pantheon of Heroes, Independence House, and the vibrant Mercado 4. Explore the barrio of Trinidad for its Jesuit church. Lunch featuring sopa paraguaya (cornbread) and chipa guazu. Afternoon visit to the Botanical Garden and Zoo. Overnight in Asuncion.

Day 3: Jesuit Missions — Trinidad & Jesus

Drive south to the UNESCO-listed Jesuit Missions. Visit Trinidad de Parana and Jesus de Tavarangue, two of the most impressive ruins of the 17th-century Jesuit reductions. Expert guide explains the history of these remarkable communities where European priests and Guarani indigenas created a unique society. The haunting beauty of these ruins at sunset is unforgettable. Overnight in Encarnacion.

Day 4: Encarnacion & San Cosme Dam

Morning at the Costanera of Encarnacion, known as the “Pearl of the South.” Visit the San Cosme y Damian Jesuit mission. Afternoon drive along the Parana River to the massive Itaipu or Yacyreta hydroelectric dam. Learn about Paraguay’s role as one of the world’s largest exporters of clean energy. Overnight in Ciudad del Este.

Day 5: Iguazu Falls — Brazilian Side

Cross into Brazil for a spectacular day at Iguazu Falls. Walk the panoramic trail on the Brazilian side for the best overall views of the 275 waterfalls. Optional Macuco Safari boat ride into the heart of the falls (prepare to get wet!). Observation deck at Devil’s Throat for the most dramatic photos. Return to Paraguay. Overnight in Ciudad del Este.

Day 6: Iguazu Falls — Argentine Side & Return

Cross into Argentina for the Argentine side of Iguazu. Ride the ecological train to Devil’s Throat station, then walk the catwalks suspended above the massive cascade. Explore the upper and lower circuits for intimate waterfall views. Afternoon return drive to Asuncion. Farewell dinner featuring traditional Paraguayan harp music.

Day 7: Depart Asuncion

Morning visit to the artisan market for nanduti lace and ao po’i textiles — Paraguay’s famous handicrafts. Transfer to Silvio Pettirossi International Airport.
