Day 1: Arrive São Tomé
Arrive at São Tomé International Airport. Transfer to Omali Lodge, a 4-star boutique hotel with tropical gardens minutes from the airport and Lagarto Beach. Afternoon at leisure to settle in. Evening orientation with your guide over welcome drinks. Overnight Omali Lodge.
Day 2: Obo National Park — Rainforest Discovery
Full-day expedition into Obo National Park, a vast protected area of primary Atlantic rainforest. Guided trek along forest trails looking for endemic birds including the São Tomé ibis (one of Africa’s rarest birds), São Tomé paradise flycatcher, and giant sunbird. Visit the park’s orchid gardens where species found nowhere else bloom year-round. Picnic lunch in the forest. Afternoon visit to a working cocoa plantation to see the full bean-to-bar process. Overnight Omali Lodge.
Day 3: Northern Cocoa Trail & Historic Plantations
Morning visit to Roça Agostinho Neto, once the world’s largest cocoa plantation, now a fascinating historical site. Continue to Roça Diogo Vaz for an expert chocolate tasting. Afternoon at Monte Café — tour the historic coffee plantation and processing facilities, taste locally grown coffee, and enjoy panoramic mountain views. Evening visit to a turtle conservation project (seasonal, November-March) where you can learn about the island’s nesting sea turtles. Overnight Omali Lodge.
Day 4: South Coast — Volcanic Landscapes & Fishing Villages
Drive south along São Tomé’s dramatic coastline. Stop at Boca de Inferno blowhole and the abandoned Roça Água Izé. Visit Pico Cão Grande — the 663-meter volcanic needle — and hike forest trails around its base. Afternoon in São João dos Angolares, a traditional fishing village. Swim at pristine beaches and visit the local market. Farewell dinner at Omali. Overnight Omali Lodge.
Day 5: Departure
Morning at leisure — swim at Lagarto Beach or enjoy Omali’s pool. Transfer to the airport for departure.
