Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Gibraltar — The Mediterranean Gateway
Arrive at Gibraltar International Airport — famous for Winston Churchill Avenue, the main road that crosses the runway! Welcome drink at your hotel overlooking the Rock. Afternoon orientation walk along Main Street, Gibraltar’s bustling pedestrian thoroughfare lined with British pubs, Spanish-style plazas, and duty-free shops. Visit the Gibraltar Museum to understand 130,000 years of human habitation — including a perfectly preserved 14th-century Moorish bathhouse. Evening: sunset at Europa Point, the southernmost tip of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. On a clear day, you can see the coast of Morocco just 14 miles across the Strait. Day 2: The Rock — Barbary Macaques & The Great Siege Tunnels
Full day exploring the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Take the cable car to the top station at 412 meters. First stop: Skywalk, a glass-bottomed viewing platform extending over the cliff edge — stare down at the Mediterranean 340 meters below. Meet Gibraltar’s most famous residents: the Barbary Macaques, Europe’s only free-roaming wild monkey population. Legend says that as long as the macaques remain on the Rock, Gibraltar will remain British. Visit St Michael’s Cave, a spectacular natural grotto used as a hospital during WWII and now a unique underground concert venue with perfect acoustics. Continue to the Great Siege Tunnels, an 18th-century engineering marvel — soldiers dug 50 meters of tunnel in just 5 weeks using only sledgehammers and gunpowder during the Great Siege of 1779-1783. Lunch at the top station restaurant with panoramic views. Afternoon: WWII tunnels, a 50-kilometer network built to house 16,000 troops. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 3: Dolphins & Moorish Heritage
Morning: dolphin-watching cruise in the Bay of Gibraltar. The Strait of Gibraltar is home to three species of dolphin year-round — common, striped, and bottlenose — with a 95% sighting success rate. Afternoon: explore Gibraltar’s Moorish heritage. Visit the Moorish Castle, built in 711 AD, whose Tower of Homage still dominates the skyline. Walk to the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque (1997), a stunning white structure that’s the southernmost mosque in Europe. Then visit the Great Synagogue, one of the oldest continuously operating synagogues in the world (1724). Evening: farewell dinner at a Spanish-influenced tapas bar in Casemates Square — try calentita, Gibraltar’s national dish of chickpea flour flatbread. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 4: Departure
Morning at leisure: last chance for duty-free shopping. Transfer to airport.
