Day 1: Arrive Mayotte — Lagoon Introduction
Arrive at Dzaoudzi Airport. Ferry across the channel to Mamoudzou. After lunch, afternoon boat excursion into the lagoon — snorkel over vibrant coral gardens teeming with green turtles and tropical fish. Visit the iconic sandbar island (îlot de Sable Blanc) where brilliant white sand rises from impossibly turquoise water — one of the Indian Ocean’s most photogenic spots. Evening seafood dinner at a waterfront restaurant. Overnight Mamoudzou.
Day 2: Wetland Reserve & Southern Beaches
Morning guided walk through the National Wetland Reserve (RAMSAR site) — explore mangrove channels where herons stalk prey and the endemic Mayotte drongo flits through the canopy. Continue to the National Arboretum to discover Madagascar and Comoros endemic plants. Afternoon drive south along the coast to N’Gouja Beach — a stunning palm-fringed bay where brown lemurs frequently come down to the sand. Swim, snorkel, or simply relax as these charismatic primates forage nearby. Overnight Mamoudzou.
Day 3: Mount Choungui & Departure
Early morning drive to the trailhead for Mount Choungui (594m). A 2-hour round-trip hike to the summit rewards with panoramic views across Mayotte’s entire lagoon — on clear days you can trace the double barrier reef system protecting the island. Return to Mamoudzou for final exploration of the market. Transfer to Dzaoudzi Airport for departure.
