Evening welcome dinner with traditional Venezuelan cuisine and drinks in the lively Las Mercedes district.
Day 2: Caracas to Canaima — Journey into the Lost World
Early morning flight from Caracas to Canaima National Park (UNESCO). Transfer by motorized curiara up the Carrao River, navigating through lush rainforest with stops at scenic points along the way. The 4-5 hour journey passes indigenous villages and offers opportunities to spot wildlife — toucans, macaws, and howler monkeys. Evening arrival at the Angel Falls base camp. Settle into hammocks and enjoy dinner under the stars with the silhouette of Auyán-tepui towering above.
Day 3: Angel Falls — Face the World’s Highest Waterfall
Morning hike through pristine jungle (approximately 1.5 hours) to reach the Mirador Salto Angel viewpoint. Stand at the base of the 979m waterfall as the world’s tallest cascade thunders from the tepui above, turning to mist before reaching the ground. Visit the Japanese Viewpoint for an alternative perspective. Swim in the natural pools at the base of the falls. Afternoon return journey towards Canaima, visiting Mayupa village en route. Overnight in Canaima lodge.
Day 4: Canaima — Sapo Falls & Lagoon Exploration
Morning boat and hike to Sapo Falls — the highlight is walking behind the curtain of water, a thrilling experience unique to this waterfall. Continue to Canaima Lagoon for swimming at its pink-sand beaches. Visit Hacha Falls and explore Canaima village, meeting the Pemón people who have lived in harmony with the tepuis for millennia. Evening dinner at a local school turned community restaurant, with traditional Pemón cuisine.
Day 5: Return to Caracas — Bolivarian Socialism & Revolution
Morning flight back to Caracas. Afternoon deep dive into Venezuela’s modern political landscape: visit the 23 de Enero district, a stronghold of Bolivarian socialism with its famous murals and community organization. Visit the Cuartel de la Montaña (Hugo Chávez Mausoleum) and the Paseo Los Próceres, the grand avenue of heroes. Engage with local community leaders for insight into Venezuela’s social movements and the Bolivarian Revolution. Farewell dinner and drinks in Caracas’s vibrant nightlife district.
