Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Gibraltar — The Rock by Sunset
Arrive and settle in. Afternoon visit to the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens (The Alameda), established in 1816, with its unique collection of Mediterranean and subtropical flora. Evening: sunset Mediterranean cruise around the Rock — the view of the limestone massif glowing golden in the last light is unforgettable. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 2: Gibraltar Full Rock Experience
Full-day exploration of Gibraltar: Cable car to the top, Barbary Macaques, Skywalk, St Michael’s Cave, Great Siege Tunnels, WWII tunnels, and the Windsor Suspension Bridge — a 71-meter bridge spanning a 50-meter deep gorge. Afternoon: visit O’Hara’s Battery at the highest point of the Rock (426m). Evening free to explore Casemates Square. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 3: Day Trip — Ronda & White Villages of Andalusia
Cross the border into Spain (passport required, but Gibraltar’s unique status makes this a memorable experience). Drive through the dramatic mountains of the Serranía de Ronda to reach Ronda, one of Spain’s most spectacular towns, perched on a deep gorge spanned by the 18th-century Puente Nuevo bridge. Visit Spain’s oldest bullring (1785), the Plaza de Toros. Lunch at a restaurant overlooking the gorge. Afternoon: return via the White Villages route — Gaucín, Casares, and Jimena de la Frontera, each a cluster of whitewashed houses clinging to hillsides. Return to Gibraltar in the evening. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 4: Day Trip — Tarifa & Bolonia Roman Ruins
Morning drive to Tarifa, the southernmost town in continental Europe. Visit the Castle of Guzmán and walk along the windswept beaches where the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet — Tarifa is Europe’s kitesurfing capital. Afternoon: visit Baelo Claudia, one of Spain’s best-preserved Roman towns, right on the beach in Bolonia. The tuna-salting factory, forum, temples, and theater are remarkably intact, with nothing but sand dunes between the ruins and the sea. Return to Gibraltar for farewell dinner. Overnight in Gibraltar.
Day 5: Departure
Morning at leisure. Transfer to airport.
