Day 2: Lilongwe — Urban & Rural Malawi

Morning visit to the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary and a leader in conservation education. Afternoon drive to a rural village in the Dedza district. Meet your host family and receive a traditional Chichewa welcome ceremony. Learn to cook nsima the traditional way. Overnight in village homestay.

Day 3: Dedza Pottery & Chongoni Rock Art (UNESCO)

Visit the Dedza Pottery workshop where local artisans create beautiful ceramics. Try your hand at the potter’s wheel. Afternoon at the Chongoni Rock Art Area (UNESCO) — 127 sites with ancient rock paintings dating back 2,500 years, one of the densest concentrations of rock art in Central Africa. Overnight in village homestay.

Day 4: Lake Malawi — Fishing Community

Drive to Lake Malawi. Visit a traditional fishing village to learn about the lake-fishing culture that sustains millions of Malawians. Join fishermen on their dugout canoes for the evening catch. Help prepare the day’s catch over an open fire on the beach. Overnight at beach lodge.

Day 5: Community Projects & Conservation

Visit community-led conservation and development projects around Lake Malawi. Learn about the cichlid fish conservation program. Participate in a tree-planting initiative. Afternoon at a local school (if in session) — share songs and games with the children. This is cultural exchange at its most genuine. Overnight at beach lodge.

Day 6: Tea Plantations & Mulanje Massif

Drive south to the Mulanje district. Visit the Satemwa Tea Estate, Malawi’s oldest tea and coffee plantation. Tour the factory, walk through the tea fields, and taste single-origin teas and coffees.
