Day 4: Malacca to Taman Negara — World’s Oldest Rainforest
- Drive to Kuala Tembeling jetty (3 hours)
- Taman Negara Boat Journey — 2.5-hour longboat ride up the Tembeling River into the heart of the 130-million-year-old rainforest (the world’s oldest, older than the Amazon and Congo combined). Rapids, water buffalo on the banks, soaring hornbills overhead

Day 5: Taman Negara — Jungle Immersion

- Rapid Shooting — Exhilarating boat ride through seven sets of rapids. Get soaked as your boatman expertly navigates the churning water

Day 6: Taman Negara to Cameron Highlands
- Morning boat back to Kuala Tembeling, then scenic drive to Cameron Highlands (3.5 hours)
- BOH Tea Plantation — Malaysia’s largest tea producer. Visit the Sungei Palas tea centre: watch the tea-making process (withering, rolling, fermenting, drying), walk among emerald tea bushes, and sip fresh Cameronian tea with scones on the panoramic balcony overlooking valleys of tea

Day 7: Cameron Highlands to Ipoh — The Town That Tin Built
- Mossy Forest Boardwalk — Walk through an enchanted forest at 2,032m where trees are draped in thick moss, orchids, and ferns. The mist-shrouded landscape feels prehistoric. See carnivorous pitcher plants up close
- Strawberry Farm — Pick your own strawberries at a hillside farm (seasonal). The cool highland climate is perfect for strawberries, and they’re some of the sweetest you’ll ever taste
- Drive to Ipoh (1.5 hours) — one of Malaysia’s most underrated cities
- Ipoh Old Town Walk:
- Concubine Lane — narrow alley turned hipster haven with murals, cafes, and souvenir shops
- Ipoh Railway Station — “Taj Mahal of Ipoh,” a stunning Moorish colonial building (1917)

Day 8: Ipoh Cave Temples to Penang
- Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple — Serene Buddhist temple set inside a massive limestone cave. The back opens to a hidden garden with a lake, reflexology path, and stunning karst cliff backdrop. Far less touristy than Batu Caves
- Perak Tong Cave Temple — 40-foot golden Buddha inside a limestone cave, with 450 steps climbing through the cave to a hilltop pavilion with panoramic views of Ipoh and the Kinta Valley
- Kellie’s Castle — Unfinished Scottish mansion built by a rubber plantation owner in 1915. Eccentric blend of Moorish, Indian, and Scottish architecture with secret tunnels and a haunted elevator shaft. Fascinating story of unfulfilled ambition
- Afternoon drive to Penang (2.5 hours over the Penang Bridge — 13.5km, Southeast Asia’s longest)
