Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Bishkek — Arrival

VIP arrival at Manas Airport. Private transfer to your hotel. Afternoon gentle orientation walk through Bishkek: Ala-Too Square, Oak Park, and the State Museum. Welcome dinner at a family-friendly restaurant.

Day 2: Burana Tower & Chon-Kemin National Park

Visit the Burana Tower — kids love climbing the ancient minaret and exploring the stone warriors. Continue to Chon-Kemin National Park for a gentle family hike through the valley. Visit a local family to learn about rural Kyrgyz life. Overnight in a comfortable guesthouse with home-cooked dinner.

Day 3: Issyk-Kul — The Warm Lake

Drive to Issyk-Kul Lake. Visit the petroglyphs at Cholpon-Ata — an outdoor museum that fascinates children and adults alike. Then head to the beach! Swimming in the warm, clear water of this alpine lake is an unforgettable experience — especially with snowy peaks on the horizon. Overnight at a lakeside hotel (Lighthouse Hotel or similar).

Day 4: Grigoryevka Gorge — Alpine Meadows

Excursion to Grigoryevka Gorge, one of Issyk-Kul’s most beautiful valleys. Easy family hike through alpine meadows filled with wildflowers (June-August). The valley is dotted with yurts where you can stop for kumis and freshly baked bread. Views of the 5,000m peaks of the Kungey Ala-Too range. Return to your lakeside hotel.

Day 5: Karakol — Dungan Culture & Eagle Hunters

Drive along Issyk-Kul’s southern shore to Karakol. Visit the unique Dungan Mosque and the wooden Orthodox Church. Afternoon: meet an eagle hunter and watch a demonstration of this ancient art. Children can hold a golden eagle (with the hunter’s help!). Dinner with a Dungan family. Overnight in Karakol.

Day 6: Jeti-Oguz to Kochkor — Red Rocks & Felt

Visit the dramatic Jeti-Oguz red rocks. Easy family walk to the “Broken Heart” viewpoint. Continue to Kochkor village. Afternoon: shyrdak felt-making workshop — hands-on fun for all ages. Everyone makes their own small felt souvenir. Overnight in a family guesthouse.

Day 7: Son-Kul Lake — Life in a Yurt

Drive to Son-Kul Lake (3,016m). This is the ultimate family adventure: sleep in a traditional Kyrgyz yurt! Afternoon: horseback riding (gentle horses for children), helping with sheep, learning to milk a mare, and making traditional bread. Evening storytelling and komuz music around the stove. The sky at Son-Kul at night — with zero light pollution — is a celestial wonder children will never forget.

Day 8: Son-Kul to Bishkek

Farewell to your nomad hosts. Drive back to Bishkek via the scenic Too-Ashuu Pass. Check into your hotel. Farewell dinner at a top restaurant. Overnight in Bishkek.

Day 9: Departure

Morning at Osh Bazaar for last souvenirs — honey, dried apricots, felt toys, kalpak hats. Transfer to the airport. A family adventure that combines culture, nature, and unforgettable experiences — and the kids will tell their friends they slept in a real yurt!
