Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Nuuk
VIP airport greeting and transfer to Hotel Hans Egede, Nuuk’s premier hotel. Afternoon at leisure — explore the colorful harbor, visit the Greenland National Museum to see the 500-year-old Qilakitsoq mummies. Welcome dinner of Greenlandic-French fusion cuisine. Overnight in Nuuk.
Day 2: Nuuk — Culture & Icefjord
Full day in Nuuk. Morning: guided tour of the Katuaq Cultural Centre, Nuuk Art Museum, and the colonial harbor. Afternoon: boat excursion into the Nuuk Fjord system — the second largest on Earth — with champagne and canapés served as icebergs drift past. Overnight in Nuuk.
Day 3: Fly to Ilulissat — Into Iceberg Country
Morning flight north to Ilulissat, the “Iceberg Capital of the World.” Check into Hotel Arctic, the world’s most northerly 4-star hotel, with rooms overlooking Disko Bay and its endless procession of icebergs. Afternoon walk to the Sermermiut Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site with 4,000 years of Inuit history. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.
Day 4: Ilulissat Icefjord — UNESCO Wonder
Full day exploring the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Morning hike along the boardwalk to the icefjord’s edge — watch Sermeq Kujalleq, the world’s fastest-moving glacier, calve enormous icebergs into the sea at a rate of 40 meters per day. These are the icebergs that sank the Titanic. Afternoon: guided tour of the Icefjord Centre, an architectural masterpiece telling the story of ice, climate, and Inuit culture. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.
Day 5: Disko Bay — Midnight Sun Cruise
Day at leisure — optional helicopter flight over the ice sheet (pre-booking required, additional cost). Afternoon: private boat cruise among the icebergs of Disko Bay. The scale is impossible to comprehend — some icebergs tower 100 meters above the water line. Evening: midnight sun cruise — the golden Arctic light on the icebergs is one of the world’s great visual spectacles. Champagne served on deck. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.
Day 6: Eqi Glacier — The Calving Wall
Full-day boat excursion to the Eqi Glacier. This 5km-wide glacier front calves every 15-20 minutes, sending house-sized chunks of ice crashing into the sea with a roar like thunder. Lunch served on the boat as you watch this primeval spectacle. On the return, stop at the tiny settlement of Oqaatsut for a traditional Greenlandic coffee. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.
Day 7: Ilulissat — Tundra Hiking & Inuit Culture
Morning guided tundra hike around Ilulissat — Arctic wildflowers, possible sightings of Arctic fox and hare. Visit the local fish market and meet Inuit hunters selling their catch. Afternoon at the Knud Rasmussen Museum, dedicated to Greenland’s greatest explorer. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.
Day 8: Fly to Nuuk
Morning flight back to Nuuk. Afternoon: last shopping for sealskin, tupilak (spirit carvings), and Greenlandic art. Visit a local artist’s studio. Farewell dinner at Nuuk’s finest restaurant — musk ox tenderloin paired with crowberry sauce. Overnight in Nuuk.
Day 9: Depart Nuuk
Morning at leisure. Transfer to airport. You leave with icebergs in your memory.
