Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Malta — Collect Car
Arrive at Malta International Airport. Pick up your rental car and drive to your hotel. Afternoon orientation: drive to Valletta for a self-guided walk. Visit the Upper Barrakka Gardens for Grand Harbour views. Explore Strait Street’s bars and cafes. Overnight in central Malta.
Day 2: Valletta & Three Cities
Full day exploring Valletta at your own pace: St. John’s Co-Cathedral (don’t miss Caravaggio), Grand Master’s Palace, National Museum of Archaeology. Afternoon: take the ferry to the Three Cities. Walk the Vittoriosa waterfront and visit Fort St. Angelo. Optional harbour cruise. Overnight.
Day 3: Mdina & Gozo
Morning drive to Mdina — park outside the walls and explore the Silent City on foot. Visit Rabat’s catacombs. Afternoon: take the car ferry to Gozo (included in your rental). Drive to the Ggantija Temples, the Citadel, and Dwejra Bay. Swim at Ramla Bay. Overnight on Gozo or return to Malta.
Day 4: South Coast & Fishing Villages
Drive the southern coast. Stop at the Blue Grotto for the morning boat trip. Visit Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples. Explore Marsaxlokk fishing village with its colorful luzzu boats. Seafood lunch. Afternoon at the pretty Pretty Bay beach or St. Peter’s Pool for cliff jumping. Overnight.
Day 5: Depart Malta
Morning drive to Mosta to see the Rotunda. Last pastizzi from a village bakery. Return car at the airport. Depart.
