Day 1: Depart for Israel
Overnight flight to Tel Aviv. (Air & Land packages from $4,049 from NYC.)
Day 2: Arrive Tel Aviv
Arrive in Tel Aviv. Transfer to hotel. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Tel Aviv.
Day 3: Caesarea, Mount Carmel & Nazareth
Visit the Roman ruins of Caesarea Maritima, where Pontius Pilate once governed. Ascend Mount Carmel to the Stella Maris Monastery. Continue to Nazareth and the Basilica of the Annunciation. Overnight in the Galilee region.
Day 4: Galilee — Jesus’ Ministry
Visit Caesarea Philippi (Banias), the Mount of Beatitudes (Sermon on the Mount site), and Capernaum — “Jesus’ town” on the Sea of Galilee. Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Visit the Church of the Multiplication (site of the feeding of the 5,000). Overnight in Galilee.
Day 5: Jordan River to Jerusalem
Visit the Jordan River baptism site. Continue to Beit She’an, one of the best-preserved Roman cities. Ascend to Jerusalem! Stop at the Mount of Olives for the iconic panoramic view. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane and the Garden Tomb. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 6: Jerusalem — Via Dolorosa & Bethlehem
Walk the Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross) through the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Explore the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall. Afternoon excursion to Bethlehem: Church of the Nativity and the Shepherds’ Fields. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 7: Dead Sea Scrolls & Yad Vashem
Visit the Israel Museum: see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the model of Second Temple Jerusalem. Afternoon at Yad Vashem, the moving Holocaust memorial. Visit Mount Zion: the Room of the Last Supper, King David’s Tomb. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 8: Jerusalem Free Day / Optional Masada & Dead Sea
Free day in Jerusalem. Optional full-day excursion to Masada (cable car to Herod’s fortress) and float in the Dead Sea — the lowest point on Earth ($79 optional). Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 9: Cross to Jordan — Dead Sea
Cross the Allenby Bridge into Jordan. Visit Bethany Beyond the Jordan (Jesus’ baptism site). Arrive at the Dead Sea for an unsinkable float. Overnight at Dead Sea resort.
Day 10: Madaba & Mount Nebo
Visit Madaba, the “City of Mosaics” — see the 6th-century map of the Holy Land at St. George’s Church. Ascend Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Visit the fortress of Mukawir (Machaerus). Overnight in Petra.
Day 11: Petra — The Rose-Red City
Full day exploring Petra, the Nabataean wonder and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Walk through the Siq (narrow canyon) to the breathtaking Treasury (Al-Khazneh). Explore temples, tombs, and the Roman theater carved from rose-red rock. Overnight in Petra.
Day 12: Crusader Castles & Roman Ruins
Visit Karak Crusader Castle. Continue to Umm ar-Rasas, a UNESCO site with magnificent Byzantine mosaic floors. Overnight in Amman.
Day 13: Amman City Tour
Tour Jordan’s capital: the Citadel Hill (Jabal al-Qal’a), Roman Theater, and bustling souks. Visit the Royal Automobile Museum. Overnight in Amman.
Day 14: Amman Free Day / Optional Jerash
Free day or optional excursion to Jerash — one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy — and Umm Qais with Sea of Galilee views ($90 optional). Farewell dinner. Overnight in Amman.
Day 15: Depart Amman
