Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Arrive Yangon — The Garden City

Welcome to Myanmar! Airport transfer to your hotel. Afternoon orientation walk through downtown Yangon — a time capsule of British colonial architecture, including the Strand Hotel and Sule Pagoda. Evening visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar, as the setting sun turns the 99-meter golden stupa into a blaze of light. The pagoda is covered in 60 tons of gold leaf and crowned with a 76-carat diamond. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon — Colonial Heritage & Spirituality

Morning guided tour of Yangon: Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott Market) — Myanmar’s best shopping for lacquerware, textiles, and gems. Visit Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda — a 65-meter reclining Buddha. Afternoon at Kandawgyi Lake with views of the Karaweik Royal Barge. Sunset at Botataung Pagoda on the riverside. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 3: Bagan — The City of 2,000 Temples

Early morning flight to Bagan. Check into your hotel and begin exploring this archaeological wonder — over 2,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries spread across a 42-square-kilometer plain, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. Visit Shwezigon Pagoda, Ananda Temple (the architectural masterpiece of Bagan), and Dhammayangyi Temple. Sunset from an elevated temple — watching the sun set over a sea of ancient spires is one of Asia’s greatest travel experiences. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 4: Bagan — Temples & Traditions

Optional sunrise hot air balloon ride over the temples (seasonal). Full day temple exploration: Sulamani Temple, Thatbyinnyu Temple (the tallest at 61 meters), and the intricate murals at Gubyaukgyi. Visit a traditional lacquerware workshop — Bagan’s craft for over 1,000 years. Afternoon horse cart ride through the temple plain, discovering hidden temples off the tourist trail. Second sunset from a different viewpoint — each evening’s light is different. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 5: Mount Popa & Return to Yangon

Morning excursion to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with a temple perched dramatically on its summit, accessible by 777 steps. The views across the central Myanmar plains are spectacular. Meet the resident monkeys and local pilgrims. Afternoon flight to Yangon. Farewell dinner at a traditional Burmese restaurant. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 6: Depart Yangon

Morning visit to the National Museum for a deeper understanding of Myanmar’s rich history. Transfer to Yangon International Airport.
