Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Santo Domingo — Colonial Exploration
Morning arrival at Las Americas International Airport (SDQ). Transfer to your hotel in the Colonial Zone. Start your Dominican adventure with a guided walking tour through the UNESCO World Heritage Colonial City: visit Calle Las Damas (the first paved street in the Americas), Plaza de Espana with the impressive Alcazar de Colon (Diego Columbus’s palace), the First Cathedral of the Americas, and Fortaleza Ozama, the oldest military fort in the New World. Afternoon visit to the Pantheon Nacional and Museum of the Royal Houses. Evening rum tasting at a historic colonial venue, sampling premium Dominican rums. Overnight in Santo Domingo.
Day 2: Los Tres Ojos & Boca Chica Beach
Morning excursion to Los Tres Ojos National Park. Descend through limestone caves to discover three stunning underground lakes with crystal-clear turquoise and blue waters, surrounded by dramatic stalactite formations and tropical vegetation. Learn about the site’s significance to the Taino people and the unique ecosystem of these subterranean wonders. Afternoon transfer to Boca Chica, the closest Caribbean beach to Santo Domingo. Relax on the white sand beach, swim in the calm, shallow turquoise waters protected by a natural coral reef, and enjoy fresh seafood at a beachfront restaurant. Evening return to Santo Domingo for a local cuisine dinner featuring traditional dishes like mofongo, mangú, and chicharrones de pollo.
Day 3: Local Culture & Departure
Morning visit to the vibrant Mercado Modelo, Santo Domingo’s largest artisan market. Browse handmade Larimar jewelry (a rare blue stone found only in the Dominican Republic), paintings by local artists, traditional faceless dolls, and Dominican cigars. Coffee tasting at a local roastery featuring single-origin Dominican coffee. Visit the Columbus Lighthouse (Faro a Colon), a massive monument and museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus.
