Day 2: Belgrade to Smederevo (45km)
First cycling day! Follow the Danube cycle path east through riverside villages. Stop at Smederevo Fortress — one of Europe’s largest medieval lowland fortresses, built in 1430. Wine tasting in the Smederevo wine region. Overnight in Smederevo.
Day 3: Smederevo to Ram (55km)

Morning cycle to Golubac Fortress, one of the most spectacular medieval fortresses on the Danube with 10 towers built directly on the riverbank. Afternoon boat cruise through the Iron Gates gorge, the deepest river gorge in Europe — 1,000m cliffs plunging into the Danube. See the Decebalus Rock sculpture on the Romanian side. Overnight near Donji Milanovac.
Day 5: Iron Gates — Donji Milanovac to Kladovo (50km)
Continue cycling through the Iron Gates National Park. Stop at the Lepenski Vir archaeological site, one of Europe’s oldest settlements (9,500-6,000 BC) with unique stone fish-god sculptures. Visit the Kapetan Misin Breg viewpoint. Overnight in Kladovo.
Day 6: Novi Sad Transfer & Petrovaradin (transfer + 25km)
Morning transfer to Novi Sad. Afternoon bike exploration: cycle through the city to Petrovaradin Fortress, the “Gibraltar of the Danube.” Explore the fortress tunnels and art studios. Evening cycling along the Danube beach (Strand). Overnight in Novi Sad.
Day 7: Fruska Gora Monastery Loop (55km)
Cycle into Fruska Gora National Park. Visit three Orthodox monasteries hidden among vineyards and forests. Wine tasting at a family cellar. Challenging but rewarding rolling hills. Return to Novi Sad. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Novi Sad.
