Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Sarajevo
Welcome to Sarajevo, the “Jerusalem of Europe” where mosques, churches, and synagogues stand side by side. Airport transfer to your hotel in the historic Bascarsija district. Evening stroll through the Ottoman-era bazaar with its copper workers, carpet shops, and cevapi grills. Welcome dinner with Bosnian coffee ceremony. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 2: Sarajevo — East Meets West
Full-day guided tour of Sarajevo. Walk from the Ottoman quarter (Bascarsija) to the Austro-Hungarian district — see where East literally meets West on Ferhadija Street. Visit the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque (16th century), the Latin Bridge where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated triggering WWI, and the Svrzo House (Ottoman-era residence). Ride the cable car to Trebevic Mountain for city panoramas. Visit the Tunnel of Hope, Sarajevo’s lifeline during the 1992-95 siege. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 3: Konjic & Jablanica
Journey south. Stop in Konjic to visit Tito’s Secret Bunker — a massive Cold War nuclear shelter hidden in the mountains, declassified only in the 1990s. Continue to Jablanica, site of the famous Battle of Neretva. Visit the destroyed bridge memorial and the WWII museum. Traditional lamb lunch. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 4: Mostar — The Bridge City
Full day in Mostar (UNESCO). Morning visit to the iconic Old Bridge (Stari Most), rebuilt after being destroyed in the war. Watch the daring local divers leap from the 24m bridge into the emerald Neretva River. Explore the cobblestone Old Town with its craft shops and the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque for the best bridge views. Visit the Turkish House (Biscevic House) and the Old Bazaar. Sunset dinner overlooking the illuminated bridge. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 5: Blagaj Tekke & Herzegovina
Morning visit to Blagaj Tekke, a stunning 16th-century Dervish monastery built into a cliff beside the source of the Buna River — one of the most magical sights in the Balkans. Continue to Pocitelj, a perfectly preserved medieval stone village on a hillside. Afternoon in Medjugorje, a major Catholic pilgrimage site. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 6: Kravice Waterfalls & Trebinje
Drive to the stunning Kravice Waterfalls — a 25m cascade into an emerald lake, perfect for swimming (seasonal). Continue to Trebinje, Herzegovina’s southernmost town, with its beautiful Old Town on the Trebisnjica River. Visit the hilltop Hercegovacka Gracanica monastery with panoramic views. Wine tasting at a family winery in the Trebinje region. Overnight in Trebinje.
Day 7: Depart from Dubrovnik or Sarajevo
Drive to Dubrovnik Airport (just 30 minutes from Trebinje) or return to Sarajevo for departure.
