Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Zurich — Transfer to Liechtenstein
Arrive Zurich. Scenic transfer to Vaduz, capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein (pop. 38,000). Evening walk through Vaduz — the castle, the parliament, the cathedral — a capital city you can walk across in 20 minutes. Overnight in Vaduz.
Day 2: Liechtenstein — Alpine Principality
Morning visit to the Liechtenstein National Museum and the Postal Museum (Liechtenstein stamps are world-famous). Afternoon: hike the Princes’ Way (Furstensteig), a spectacular trail along the Alpine ridge with views into Switzerland and Austria. Day 3: San Marino — World’s Oldest Republic
Train to Rimini, then drive up Monte Titano to San Marino (pop. 33,000), the world’s oldest surviving republic (founded in 301 AD). Afternoon tour: the three towers (Guaita, Cesta, Montale), the Palazzo Pubblico with its Changing of the Guard ceremony, and the Basilica of San Marino. Day 4: San Marino — Medieval Streets & Museums
Full day exploring this mountaintop microstate. Visit the State Museum, the Museum of Curiosities, and the Torture Museum. Walk the entire country — you can cross San Marino on foot in a few hours. Shop for duty-free goods on the medieval streets. Try piadina, the local flatbread. Overnight in San Marino.
Day 5: Rimini & Transfer to Monaco
Morning in Rimini — Roman Bridge of Tiberius, Arch of Augustus. Afternoon train along the Italian coast to Nice, then transfer to Monaco. Arrive in the evening. Walk to the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo — James Bond elegance in the Mediterranean night. Overnight in Monaco/Monte Carlo.
