Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Beirut
Welcome to Lebanon! Airport pickup and hotel check-in. Afternoon walking tour of Beirut: the Corniche seaside promenade, Pigeon Rocks (Raouché) at sunset, and the vibrant Hamra district. Welcome dinner with Lebanese mezze — hummus, tabbouleh, fattoush, kibbeh, and arak (anise spirit). Overnight in Beirut.
Day 2: Beirut — Phoenix City
Full-day Beirut. Morning at the National Museum of Beirut with its priceless Phoenician collection — the world’s largest collection of Phoenician anthropoid sarcophagi. Walk through the Downtown district: Martyrs’ Square, the Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque, St. George Maronite Cathedral (side by side), and the Roman Baths. Afternoon: the Sursock Museum of modern art and the achrafieh neighborhood. Evening in Gemmayzeh and Mar Mikhael with their street art and nightlife. Overnight in Beirut.
Day 3: Baalbek — The Most Magnificent Roman Ruins
Full-day excursion to Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley. The Temple of Bacchus is perhaps the best-preserved Roman temple in the world — its 22m columns are staggering. Walk through the Temple of Jupiter complex where six of the original 54 columns still stand (each 22m tall, the largest Roman columns ever constructed). See the famous Trilithon — three stone blocks weighing 800 tons each, the largest worked stones in the world. Visit the Temple of Venus nearby. Lunch at a Bekaa Valley winery (Château Ksara or Château Musar). Overnight in Beirut.
Day 4: Byblos & Jeita Grotto
Morning at Jeita Grotto, a spectacular cave system with the world’s largest stalactite (8.2m). Boat ride through the lower grotto’s crystal-clear underground river. Continue to Byblos (Jbeil), one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth (8,000+ years). Visit the Crusader Castle, the Phoenician temple ruins, the Roman theatre overlooking the Mediterranean, and the ancient harbor. Walk through the enchanting old souk. Seafood lunch at the port. Overnight in Beirut.
Day 5: Cedar Forests & Qadisha Valley
Drive into the Lebanon Mountains. Visit the Cedars of God (Arz el-Rab) — a UNESCO site and Lebanon’s national symbol, these ancient trees are mentioned 103 times in the Bible and were used for Solomon’s Temple. Continue to the Qadisha Holy Valley (UNESCO), a dramatic gorge that sheltered Christian communities for centuries. Visit the Deir Qannoubine monastery carved into the cliff face. Sunset at Harissa — ride the téléphérique to the Our Lady of Lebanon statue for panoramic coastal views. Farewell dinner in Batroun. Overnight in Beirut.
Day 6: Depart Beirut
Morning at the Beirut Souks or the artisan market in Saifi Village. Transfer to Rafic Hariri International Airport.
