Itinerary Highlights
Days 1-3: Kathmandu Valley
Explore Kathmandu’s UNESCO sites: Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) at dawn, Boudhanath Stupa with its watchful eyes, Pashupatinath Temple’s riverside cremation ghats, and the medieval squares of Bhaktapur and Patan. The valley holds seven UNESCO World Heritage sites in a radius of 20km — one of the highest concentrations anywhere.
Days 4-5: Chitwan National Park
Drive to the Terai lowlands. Canoe ride on the Rapti River among mugger crocodiles and gharials. Jeep safari through the sal forest searching for the one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bear, and — if extremely lucky — the Royal Bengal tiger. Elephant breeding center and Tharu village cultural show. The contrast between the mountains and these subtropical jungles is one of Nepal’s best surprises.
Days 6-8: Pokhara — Nepal’s Adventure Capital
Fly to Pokhara. Boating on Phewa Lake with the Annapurna Range mirroring in still water. Paragliding from Sarangkot — 30 minutes soaring with vultures at 1,500m, the Himalayas filling the horizon. Visit Devi’s Falls and the International Mountain Museum. Optional: short day hike to the World Peace Pagoda. Three nights to absorb Pokhara’s famously relaxed energy.
Day 9: Return & Depart
Fly to Kathmandu. Transfer to airport.
