Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Fairbanks — Aurora Welcome
Arrive at Fairbanks International Airport. Transfer to your aurora-viewing lodge outside the city, away from light pollution. Orientation and aurora photography tips from your guide. After dinner, your first night vigil — step outside into the Arctic night and watch for the first tendrils of green light appearing on the horizon. Fairbanks offers aurora viewing from late August through mid-April, with peak activity typically around the equinoxes.

Day 2: Dog Sledding & Aurora Chase
Morning dog sledding adventure — meet a team of Alaskan huskies, learn to mush your own sled through pristine boreal forest trails (or ride as a passenger). Warm up with hot chocolate by a crackling fire at the musher’s cabin. Afternoon visit to the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska Fairbanks — see Blue Babe, a 36,000-year-old steppe bison mummy, and learn about Alaska Native cultures. Evening aurora chase — your guide drives to the best viewing locations based on real-time aurora forecasts and weather data.

Day 3: Chena Hot Springs & Aurora Night
Drive 60 miles east to Chena Hot Springs Resort, a legendary wilderness oasis. Soak in the natural geothermal rock pool (40°C / 104°F) surrounded by snow-covered spruce trees — steam rising around you as the temperature hovers around -20°C outside. Visit the Aurora Ice Museum, the world’s largest year-round ice environment, kept at -7°C. Everything inside — walls, bar, chandeliers, even the martini glasses — is carved from ice. Sip an appletini at the ice bar. After dinner, watch the aurora from heated “aurorium” cabins or the outdoor hot springs pool — an iconic Alaska experience.

Day 4: Arctic Circle Fly & Drive Adventure
Choose your adventure: fly to Coldfoot, a remote truck stop above the Arctic Circle (66°33′N), for lunch and a tour of this frontier outpost, then drive the legendary Dalton Highway (the “Haul Road”) back south, crossing the Yukon River and the Arctic Circle, with chances to see moose and the pipeline.
