Day 1: Arrive Panama City — Casco Antiguo
Arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY), the Hub of the Americas. Private transfer to your hotel in the historic Casco Viejo district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Late afternoon walking tour through cobblestone streets lined with Spanish colonial architecture, past San José Church’s golden altar (legend says it was painted black to hide from pirates) and the 1908 National Theater. Day 2: Panama Canal & Biomuseo
The day begins at the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center, where massive container ships and cruise vessels transit the canal right before your eyes. The IMAX theater and four-story museum explain the incredible engineering feat that joined two oceans. Afternoon at the Frank Gehry-designed Biomuseo on the Amador Causeway, celebrating Panama’s unique biodiversity as the land bridge where North and South American species meet. Day 3: Emberá Indigenous Village & Chagres Rainforest
Morning departure by dugout canoe up the Chagres River into the heart of Chagres National Park. Arrive at an Emberá indigenous community, where villagers welcome you with traditional music and dance. Learn about their medicinal plants, traditional body painting, and intricate tagua nut and cocobolo wood carvings. Share a lunch of fresh river fish and plantains wrapped in bijao leaves. Day 4: San Blas Islands — Guna Yala Paradise
Early morning 4×4 journey through the jungle highlands of the Guna Yala comarca (indigenous territory). Arrive at the Caribbean coast where your boat awaits to take you into the San Blas archipelago—365 islands, one for every day of the year, only about 50 of which are inhabited. Island hop between palm-fringed sandbars, snorkel in crystal-clear waters over coral reefs, and visit a Guna community to learn about their autonomous governance and world-famous mola textile art. Day 5: San Blas — Natural Pool & Shipwreck Island
Wake to the sound of gentle waves lapping at your cabana. Morning visit to the Natural Pool—a shallow sandbar in the middle of the Caribbean where starfish dot the seafloor and the water is impossibly turquoise. Continue to Isla Perro (Dog Island), home to a sunken shipwreck that has become an artificial reef teeming with tropical fish—snorkeling here is exceptional. Day 6: Return to Panama City — Fly to David
Morning swim and final island exploration before the 4×4 journey back through the jungle to Panama City. Afternoon domestic flight to David, the capital of Chiriquí Province. Transfer up into the misty highlands of Boquete, a charming mountain town perched at 1,200 meters on the slopes of Volcán Barú. The air is cool and crisp, the coffee world-class. Day 7: Boquete — Coffee, Cloud Forest & Zip-lining
Morning tour of a working coffee estate, where you’ll learn the entire process from cherry to cup—and taste Panama’s legendary Geisha coffee, the most expensive in the world. Walk through shade-grown plantations beneath the volcano. Afternoon options: hike the Pipeline Trail through misty cloud forest in search of the resplendent quetzal, zip-line through the canopy on Central America’s longest cables, or soak in natural hot springs fed by Volcán Barú. Day 8: Bocas del Toro — Caribbean Archipelago
Scenic drive from the highlands down to the Caribbean coast, crossing the continental divide. Arrive in Almirante and take a water taxi across the shimmering bay to Bocas del Toro town on Isla Colón. Afternoon boat tour to spot dolphins in Dolphin Bay, snorkel at Coral Cay, and visit Red Frog Beach on Isla Bastimentos. The Caribbean here is wilder and more laid-back than San Blas—think reggae bars over the water and bioluminescent plankton in the night sea. Day 9: Departure
Morning at leisure on Bocas’ beaches. Water taxi back to Almirante and transfer to David Airport or Bocas del Toro Airport for your onward flight. Or extend your stay—the islands reward those who linger.
