Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Port-au-Prince — Arrival & Art Immersion
Arrive in Port-au-Prince. Transfer to your hotel in Pétion-Ville. Afternoon tour of Haiti’s unique art scene: visit the Atis Rezistans collective in Grand Rue — artists who transform discarded engine parts, computer boards, and scrap metal into powerful sculptures that sell in galleries worldwide. Continue to the Centre d’Art, founded in 1944, which launched the Haitian art renaissance and houses works by the country’s most famous painters. Welcome dinner in Pétion-Ville with live music.
Day 2: Port-au-Prince — History & Mountains
Morning at MUPANAH (Haitian National Pantheon Museum) for a deep dive into the country’s revolutionary history — from the arrival of Columbus to independence in 1804. Visit the Marché de Fer (Iron Market), the vibrant commercial heart of the capital. Afternoon drive up to Kenscoff in the mountains (1,500m elevation) for cool mountain air and spectacular views. Visit a coffee cooperative to taste Haiti’s renowned Blue Mountain-style coffee. Return to Port-au-Prince for the evening.
Day 3: Jacmel — Haiti’s Cultural Capital
Morning drive south to Jacmel, one of the Caribbean’s most charming colonial towns (3 hours). The wrought-iron balconies and gingerbread architecture were declared a World Monuments Fund site. Explore the historic center: the cathedral, the Manoir Alexandra, and the seaside promenade. Visit a papier-mâché workshop — Jacmel’s Carnival masks are exported worldwide. Lunch at a beachfront restaurant. Afternoon: Bassin Bleu excursion. Hike through tropical forest to the three-tiered blue pools. The water, filtered through limestone, is an almost unreal turquoise-blue. Swim, jump, and explore these natural wonders. Return to Jacmel for a relaxed evening.
Day 4: Jacmel Beach & Departure
Morning at Jacmel Beach. Swim in the Caribbean, walk the golden sand, and enjoy the tropical atmosphere. Visit the Jacmel craft market for souvenirs: papier-mâché masks, paintings, jewelry, and the famous Haitian metal art (fer découpé). Return drive to Port-au-Prince airport. Departure. Four days is short, but you’ve experienced the artistic soul and natural beauty of Haiti.
