Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Port-au-Prince — Arrival

Arrive in Port-au-Prince. Transfer to your hotel in Pétion-Ville. Afternoon: introductory visit to the MUPANAH (National Pantheon Museum) to understand Haiti’s revolutionary history. Evening welcome dinner featuring Haitian haute cuisine at a Pétion-Ville restaurant.

Day 2: Port-au-Prince — Art & Resilience

Morning at Atis Rezistans (Artists of Resistance) in Grand Rue. This collective of sculptors creates world-famous works from recycled materials — the birthplace of what has been called “the most important art movement in the Caribbean.” Meet the artists and understand their powerful vision. Afternoon: visit the Centre d’Art, the gallery that launched Haiti’s modern art movement in 1944. See works by Hector Hyppolite, Philomé Obin, and other Haitian masters. Evening: a traditional Vodou ceremony (observance only, with full cultural context provided by your guide). Understand the rhythms, chants, and symbolism of this profoundly misunderstood religion.

Day 3: Kenscoff Mountains & Coffee Culture

Drive into the mountains above Port-au-Prince to Kenscoff (1,500m). Visit a coffee cooperative — Haiti was once the world’s largest coffee producer and still produces exceptional Arabica. Walk through the coffee terraces, learn about cultivation and processing, and participate in a cupping (tasting) session. Afternoon: visit the Baptist Mission area with its spectacular views. Meet local farmers and understand mountain life. Return to Port-au-Prince.

Day 4: Jacmel — The Artist’s Paradise

Drive south to Jacmel. Its gingerbread architecture, wrought-iron balconies, and artistic atmosphere make it unique in the Caribbean. Afternoon: explore the historic center, visiting papier-mâché workshops where artisans create elaborate Carnival masks and sculptures. Visit the Jacmel art center and its galleries. Sunset on Jacmel Beach. Overnight in Jacmel.

Day 5: Bassin Bleu & Cacao Trail

Morning hike to Bassin Bleu, Haiti’s most beautiful natural wonder. The three-tiered pools of impossibly blue water, surrounded by tropical forest, offer swimming, cliff-jumping, and pure relaxation. Afternoon: visit a cacao farm. Haiti grows some of the finest Trinitario cacao in the world. Learn the entire process from pod to chocolate bar — fermentation, sun-drying, roasting, and grinding. Participate in a chocolate-making workshop. Overnight in Jacmel.

Day 6: Fly to Cap-Haïtien — Revolution’s Birthplace

Morning drive back to Port-au-Prince. Afternoon flight to Cap-Haïtien. The north is where the Haitian Revolution began. Visit Bois Caïman, the site of the 1791 Vodou ceremony that launched the only successful slave revolt in world history. Though humble in appearance, this site’s significance cannot be overstated — it changed the course of human history. Overnight in Cap-Haïtien.

Day 7: Citadelle Laferrière — The Symbol of Freedom

The final day delivers Haiti’s greatest monument. Horseback ride to the Citadelle Laferrière, the largest fortress in the Americas and the ultimate symbol of Haitian independence. Extensive tour (2+ hours) of every section. Descend to Sans Souci Palace. Farewell lunch in Milot. Transfer to Cap-Haïtien Airport. Seven days that will forever change your understanding of Caribbean history, African diaspora culture, and the power of human resilience.
