Welcome to Villa Casagrande in Figline Valdarno, a historic Medici-era estate in the heart of Tuscany. Check into your villa accommodation. Welcome Prosecco in the villa’s Renaissance courtyard. Evening passeggiata through the villa’s olive groves and vineyards. Welcome dinner prepared by the villa chef. Overnight at Villa Casagrande.
Day 2: Florence — Renaissance Art & Wine Windows
Day trip to Florence. Morning: skip-the-line entry to the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s David. Walk through Piazza della Signoria, the Duomo, and Ponte Vecchio. Afternoon: Discover Florence’s wine windows (buchette del vino) — tiny arched openings in palace walls where wine was sold during the plague. Today, several have reopened. Evening Aperitivo in the Oltrarno artisan quarter. Return to the villa. Overnight at Villa Casagrande.
Day 3: Villa Cooking Day — From Garden to Table
Full day at the villa with Mamma Paola. Morning: tour the villa’s kitchen garden and collect fresh ingredients. Hands-on cooking class preparing three traditional Tuscan recipes using local, seasonal produce. Learn the secrets of perfect risotto, handmade pasta, and the villa’s signature tiramisu. Long lunch in the courtyard with wines from the estate. Afternoon: gelato-making workshop. Evening pizza night — knead your own dough and choose fresh toppings. Overnight at Villa Casagrande.
Day 4: Siena & San Gimignano
Morning in Siena: the magnificent Duomo with its zebra-striped marble columns and Piccolomini Library frescoes, the Piazza del Campo where the Palio horse race has been run since the Middle Ages. Lunch at a Siena enoteca — pici pasta with wild boar ragu. Afternoon in San Gimignano: climb the Torre Grossa for 360° views, taste Vernaccia di San Gimignano (Tuscany’s only DOCG white wine), and the world champion gelato. Overnight at Villa Casagrande.
Day 5: Chianti Wine Trail & Greve
Drive the Chianti Classico wine road. Visit Castellina in Chianti, one of the original Chianti League towns. Wine tasting at Cesani estate — three wines paired with Tuscan cheeses and charcuterie. Continue to Greve in Chianti, with its unique triangular piazza, and the famous Antica Macelleria Falorni — taste wild boar salami and prosciutto from a butcher shop that’s been operating since 1806. Farewell dinner at the villa — a multi-course Tuscan feast. Overnight at Villa Casagrande.
