Day 1: Arrive Aix-en-Provence
Welcome to the heart of Provence! Transfer to your luxury hotel in Aix-en-Provence, the city of a thousand fountains. Afternoon walk through the Cours Mirabeau, Aix’s tree-lined boulevard with its 17th-century mansions. Evening: your first Michelin-starred dinner at a restaurant in Aix — the quintessential Provencal fine dining experience. Overnight in Aix-en-Provence.
Day 2: Aix Market & Wine Country
Morning at Aix’s famous market with a local chef. Select ingredients over coffee at a café terrace. Visit Cezanne’s studio — preserved exactly as he left it, with his still-life objects. Drive to the Coteaux d’Aix wine region. Visit Chateau La Coste — an extraordinary combination of winery, art gallery (Tadao Ando architecture), and sculpture park (Calder, Bourgeois, Kapoor). Wine tasting and lunch at the estate’s restaurant. Overnight in Aix.
Day 3: Truffle Hunting & Luberon
Morning truffle hunt with a professional truffle hunter and his trained dog in the Luberon. Learn about the mysterious “black diamond” of Provence, how it grows in symbiosis with oak roots, and the art of the hunt. Truffle-themed lunch: truffle omelette, truffle risotto, truffle cheese. Afternoon visit to the wineries of the Luberon AOC. Wine pairing dinner at your hotel. Overnight in the Luberon.
Day 4: Chateauneuf-du-Pape Wine Immersion
Full day in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Visit 3 domaines — from a historic estate with cellars dating to the 14th-century papal era to a cutting-edge biodynamic producer. Comparative tasting of the 13 permitted grape varieties. Lunch at the Michelin-starred La Table de Sorgues. Afternoon walk through the famous vineyard with its galets roules stones. Visit the ruined papal castle that gave the wine its name. Overnight in Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Day 5: Avignon — Palais des Papes & Les Halles
Morning in Avignon. Private guided tour of the Palais des Papes — the largest Gothic palace ever built. Visit Les Halles d’Avignon with a chef: taste goat cheese from Banon, olives from Nyons, and calissons d’Aix. Lunch cooking class — using your market purchases to create a Provencal feast. Afternoon free to explore Avignon. Evening: dinner at a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Avignon. Overnight in Avignon.
Day 6: Arles, Camargue & Bouillabaisse
Drive to Arles — the Roman amphitheater, the Van Gogh sites (he painted 300 works in 15 months here), and the Saturday market if applicable. Continue to the Camargue — Europe’s largest river delta, a wild landscape of white horses, black bulls, and pink flamingos. Visit a manade (bull ranch) for a traditional gardian lunch. Afternoon: Marseille — visit the Old Port and learn the secrets of authentic bouillabaisse from a master fishmonger. Farewell dinner: the world’s most famous fish stew, prepared according to the 1980 Bouillabaisse Charter. Overnight in Marseille.
Day 7: Depart Marseille
Morning visit to the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica for panoramic views over Marseille and the Mediterranean. Last chance for navettes (orange blossom biscuits) at the Four des Navettes — Marseille’s oldest bakery (1781). Transfer to Marseille Provence Airport. Au revoir!
