Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival — Welcome to the Nature Island
Arrive at Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), where your private driver transfers you to the eco-boutique Rosalie Bay Resort, nestled between a black sand beach and the Rosalie River. Settle into your ocean-view room and take an orientation walk through the resort’s organic gardens. Enjoy a welcome dinner featuring Creole specialties — callaloo soup, grilled mahi-mahi, and fresh tropical fruits. Overnight at Rosalie Bay Eco Resort & Spa.

Day 2: Boiling Lake Expedition — Valley of Desolation
Rise early for Dominica’s ultimate adventure: the full-day hike to the Boiling Lake, the world’s second-largest actively boiling lake, located in Morne Trois Pitons National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Cross the Breakfast River and descend into the surreal Valley of Desolation — a geothermal wonderland of steaming fumaroles, multicolored mineral deposits, and bubbling mud pots. The lake itself measures 63 meters across, perpetually shrouded in steam, with water temperatures reaching 92°C at the edges. After the challenging 6-8 hour round-trip trek, cool off with a refreshing swim through the narrow canyon walls of Titou Gorge, where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. Return to the resort for a well-earned dinner.

Day 3: Trafalgar Falls & Freshwater Lake
Morning hike through lush rainforest to the magnificent Trafalgar Falls — twin waterfalls cascading 60 meters side by side, known locally as “Father” and “Mother.” Soak in natural hot mineral pools at the base. Continue to Freshwater Lake, Dominica’s largest lake at 760 meters elevation, surrounded by cloud forest. Enjoy optional kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding on the calm waters, with chances to spot the endemic Sisserou and Jaco parrots. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the resort’s spa. Overnight at Rosalie Bay.

Day 4: Champagne Reef & Scotts Head Snorkeling
Board a private boat for a snorkeling adventure at Champagne Reef, where underwater geothermal vents release thousands of warm bubbles that fizz through the water like champagne. The reef teems with marine life — trumpet fish, parrotfish, hawksbill turtles, and colorful sponges. Continue south to Scotts Head, the Caribbean’s only tied island, where you can snorkel where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. The underwater drop-off hosts grunts, soldier fish, and the occasional spotted eagle ray. Lunch at a seaside restaurant in the fishing village of Soufrière.

Day 5: Roseau — Markets, Gardens & Morne Bruce
Explore the charming capital of Roseau. Start at the bustling Old Market, where Kalinago artisans sell handmade baskets, and vendors offer fresh spices, cocoa sticks, and coconut oil. Visit the Dominica Museum to learn about the island’s indigenous Kalinago heritage and colonial history. Stroll through the Botanic Gardens, established in 1889 — home to a famous crushed school bus from Hurricane David (1979) now embraced by a massive Baobab tree. Climb to Morne Bruce for panoramic views over Roseau and the Caribbean Sea. Farewell dinner with live bouyon music. Overnight at Rosalie Bay.

Day 6: Departure
After a final Caribbean breakfast, transfer to the airport. Depart with memories of boiling lakes, bubbling reefs, and one of the world’s most pristine tropical islands.
