Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Ushuaia — The End of the World
Check in at Ushuaia pier, the world’s southernmost city nestled between the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. Board your expedition vessel and settle into your cabin. Sail east along the Beagle Channel as the sun sets behind the jagged peaks of Tierra del Fuego. Welcome dinner with regional Patagonian lamb and Chilean wines.
Day 2: Cape Horn & Wulaia Bay
Navigate the remote Nassau Bay to approach the legendary Cape Horn. Weather permitting, go ashore at this iconic headland — the southernmost point of South America before the Drake Passage. Visit the Cape Horn Monument (an albatross in flight), the lighthouse manned by a Chilean Navy family, and the Stella Maris Chapel. Afternoon landing at Wulaia Bay for hiking through ancient Magellanic forests and learning about the vanished Yamana people.
Day 3: Pía Glacier & Glacier Alley
Enter the Beagle Channel’s most dramatic section — Glacier Alley. Five glaciers (Holanda, Italia, Francia, Alemania, and Romanche) tumble from the Darwin Range into the sea. Zodiac close to the massive face of Pía Glacier and watch for calving ice. Afternoon at scenic Garibaldi Fjord with another glacier viewing. Day 4: Águila Glacier & Magdalena Island
Morning zodiac excursion to Águila Glacier, one of Patagonia’s most active tidewater glaciers. Watch thunderous calving events from a safe distance. Navigate to Cóndor Glacier and the scenic Porter Glacier. Afternoon landing on Magdalena Island in the Strait of Magellan — home to over 120,000 Magellanic penguins. Walk the designated trail among the bustling colony during nesting season.
Day 5: Punta Arenas — Disembarkation
Early morning arrival at Punta Arenas. Farewell breakfast aboard. Disembark and transfer to airport or continue your Patagonian journey. The voyage may end, but the memories of ice, penguins, and Cape Horn last forever.
