Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Tana — Welcome to Madagascar
Airport transfer and hotel check-in. Evening briefing. Overnight in Tana.
Day 2: Tana to Morondava
Flight to Morondava. Afternoon visit to the Avenue of the Baobabs at sunset — 800-year-old Grandidier’s baobabs standing like ancient guardians against the golden sky. This is Madagascar’s most photographed scene and one of Africa’s greatest natural spectacles. Overnight in Morondava.
Day 3: Kirindy Forest — Fossas & Sifakas
Full-day expedition to Kirindy Private Reserve. Search for the elusive fossa, Madagascar’s top predator — a cat-like carnivore the size of a small cougar. Spot 7 lemur species including the dancing Verreaux’s sifaka and the tiny Madame Berthe’s mouse lemur (the world’s smallest primate). Afternoon night walk to see nocturnal wildlife. Overnight near Kirindy.
Day 4-5: Grand Tsingy de Bemaraha
Two days exploring the Grand Tsingy — a UNESCO World Heritage stone forest. These razor-sharp limestone pinnacles, carved over 200 million years, form a landscape unlike anything else on Earth. Cross suspended rope bridges, squeeze through narrow passages, and climb to viewpoints overlooking this petrified forest. Spot Decken’s sifakas leaping impossibly between the needles and discover endemic succulents growing from bare rock. Overnight near Tsingy.
Day 6: Baobab Alley Sunrise & Beach
Return to Morondava — sunrise at the Avenue of the Baobabs before the crowds arrive. Afternoon at leisure on the pristine west coast beaches. Overnight in Morondava.
Day 7: Morondava to Tana — Lemurs’ Park
Morning flight to Tana. Afternoon visit to Lemurs’ Park, a private reserve where you can see 9 lemur species in a beautiful botanical setting. Visit the artisan markets for vanilla, spices, and woodcarvings. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Tana.
Day 8: Depart Madagascar
Transfer to airport. Depart with memories of dancing sifakas and ancient stone forests.
