Day 3: Aburi Botanical Gardens & Cocoa Farm
Drive to the Aburi Botanical Gardens, established in 1890 in the cool hills outside Accra. Then visit the Tetteh Quarshie original cocoa farm — Ghana is the world’s second-largest cocoa producer, and this farm planted the first cocoa seeds brought from Fernando Po in 1879. Learn the bean-to-bar process. Overnight in Accra.
Day 4: Cape Coast Castle — The Door of No Return
Journey west to Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most powerful memorials to the transatlantic slave trade. Guided tour through the dungeons and the “Door of No Return” — a profoundly moving experience. Afternoon at the Cape Coast fishing harbor, watching the colorful fishing boats return with the day’s catch. Overnight in Cape Coast.
Day 5: Kakum National Park — Canopy Walkway
Morning at Kakum National Park, home to 40 mammal species including forest elephants. Walk the famous canopy walkway suspended 30 meters above the rainforest floor — seven bridges offering eye-level views of butterflies, birds, and the emerald canopy. Day 6: Kumasi — Heart of the Ashanti Kingdom
Drive to Kumasi, capital of the ancient Ashanti Kingdom. Visit the Manhyia Palace Museum, former residence of Ashanti kings. Day 7: Lake Volta & Akosombo
