Itinerary Highlights
Days 1-2: Shanghai
Shanghai Tower, The Bund, Yu Garden, Nanjing Road, Shanghai Museum, Tianzifang. Huangpu River cruise.
Days 3-4: Guilin & Yangshuo
Fly to Guilin. Li River cruise through karst peaks, Yangshuo countryside biking, Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill.
Days 5-6: Chengdu — Panda Capital
Fly to Chengdu. Giant Panda Breeding Center (morning feeding!), People’s Park tea house, Jinli Street, Leshan Giant Buddha (world’s largest, 71m). Sichuan hotpot dinner.
Days 7-9: Tibet — The Roof of the World
Fly to Lhasa (3,650m / 12,000 ft). Acclimatization day with gentle exploration. Potala Palace — the iconic winter palace of the Dalai Lamas, 13 stories, over 1,000 rooms. Jokhang Temple — Tibet’s most sacred temple, circumambulated by pilgrims. Barkhor Street — the ancient pilgrimage circuit and market. Sera Monastery — watch the famous monk debating sessions. Norbulingka — the summer palace. Tibet Travel Permit included.
Days 10-11: Xi’an
Fly from Lhasa. Terracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Quarter, Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Days 12-15: Beijing
Bullet train or fly to Beijing. Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, hutong rickshaw. Farewell Peking Duck banquet. Depart Beijing.
