Day 1: Arrive Tunis — Medina (UNESCO)

Day 2: Carthage & Sidi Bou Said (UNESCO)
Full day at Carthage: the Punic Quarter, Tophet sanctuary, Antonine Baths, Roman villas, and the Byrsa acropolis with the Carthage Museum. Day 3: Dougga — Africa’s Best Roman City (UNESCO)
Day trip to Dougga, arguably the most spectacular Roman site in Africa. In-depth guided tour: the 3,500-seat theater, Capitol temple, Forum, Lycinian Baths, Temple of Saturn, and the unique Libyco-Punic Mausoleum. Picnic lunch among 2,000-year-old ruins. Overnight near Testour.
Day 4: Bulla Regia & Chemtou
Visit Bulla Regia, a unique Roman site with underground villas — the Romans built their homes below ground to escape the African heat, preserving stunning mosaics in situ. Continue to Chemtou, the ancient Roman marble quarries that supplied the Empire’s finest yellow marble. Overnight in Kairouan.
Day 5: Kairouan — Islamic Holy City (UNESCO)
Full day in Kairouan, Islam’s fourth holiest city. Great Mosque (crowd-free morning light), the Mosque of the Three Doors, the Aghlabid Basins, and the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi with its exquisite tile work. Afternoon carpet workshop demonstration — Kairouan carpets are among the world’s finest. Overnight in Kairouan.
Day 6: Sousse Medina & Monastir (UNESCO)
Drive to Sousse, a UNESCO-listed Medina with its mighty ribat fortress. Visit the Sousse Archaeological Museum housed in the kasbah — the finest Roman mosaics in Tunisia. Afternoon in Monastir: the Ribat (where Monty Python’s Life of Brian was filmed) and Bourguiba Mausoleum. Overnight in Sousse.
Day 7: El Jem Amphitheater (UNESCO) & Mahdia
Visit the mighty El Jem Colosseum — the third-largest in the Roman world, still hosting concerts today. Walk through the gladiator tunnels and climb to the top tier for spectacular views. Continue to Mahdia, a charming coastal town with a Fatimid-era Great Mosque and the imposing Borj el-Kebir fortress. Overnight in Sousse.
Day 8: Bardo Museum & Belvedere Park
Return to Tunis. Full morning at the Bardo National Museum — the world’s greatest collection of Roman mosaics, housed in a former Beylical palace. Afternoon stroll in Belvedere Park and the modern Ville Nouvelle with its Art Nouveau architecture. Farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant. Overnight in Tunis.
Day 9: Depart Tunis
Morning at the French Market for last souvenirs. Transfer to Tunis-Carthage Airport.
