Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Tatras
Transfer from Poprad to your mountain hotel. Afternoon: gentle orientation walk around Strbske Pleso — the Tatras’ most photogenic glacial lake. Welcome dinner.
Day 2: Strbske Pleso & Popradske Pleso Lakes
Easy hike to Popradske Pleso (1,494m, 2 hours, minimal elevation gain) — an alpine lake surrounded by peaks, with the iconic mountain hotel (1880s). Afternoon: optional visit to the Tatra Museum and the historic Grand Hotel Praha (1899) in Tatranska Lomnica.
Day 3: Zelene Pleso — The Green Lake
Hike to Zelene Pleso (Green Lake, 1,546m) — one of the Tatras’ most beautiful alpine lakes, its emerald color from minerals in the glacial meltwater. The trail winds through pine forest and alpine meadow, with views of the dramatic Kezmarsky stit (2,558m). Visit the charming Biela Voda (White Water) waterfall.
Day 4: Slovak Paradise — Gorge Hiking
Day trip to Slovak Paradise National Park. Hike the Sucha Bela gorge — climb ladders, cross walkways, and enjoy the waterfalls. Afternoon: visit Spis Castle (UNESCO) — one of Europe’s largest castle ruins (41,000 sq m), a 12th-century fortress on a limestone hilltop.
Day 5: Low Tatras — Cave & Valley
Day trip to the Low Tatras (Nizke Tatry). Visit the Demanovska Ice Cave or Demanovska Cave of Liberty (extraordinary limestone formations). Gentle hike through the Demanovska Valley with lunch at a mountain chalet.
Day 6: Morskie Oko or Free Day
Option to visit Morskie Oko in Poland — the largest Tatra lake (35 hectares, 51m deep). Easy 2-hour walk on a paved road or horse-drawn carriage. Afternoon: relax at a thermal spa — the Tatras region has natural geothermal springs. Farewell dinner.
