Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Sorong — Into the Heart of Raja Ampat
Welcome to Sorong, West Papua — your gateway to the world’s most biodiverse marine ecosystem. Airport transfer to the harbor for your speedboat journey into Raja Ampat. First stop: Kri Island, one of the legendary “Four Kings” (Raja Ampat means Four Kings). Settle into your overwater homestay — simple but perfectly positioned above coral gardens teeming with life. Evening briefing and orientation. Overnight at Kri Island.
Day 2: Piaynemo & Star Lagoon — Raja Ampat’s Iconic View
Morning speedboat to the Fam Islands. Hike up to the Piaynemo viewpoint — the single most photographed scene in Raja Ampat: a sea of tiny karst islets rising from turquoise water like emerald droplets. This view alone is worth the journey to West Papua. Descend to swim in Star Lagoon, a hidden natural pool surrounded by limestone cliffs. Afternoon snorkeling at Manta Point, where reef mantas with wingspans up to 5 meters glide gracefully past. Overnight at Kri Island.
Day 3: Yeben Island & Arborek Village
Morning snorkeling at Yeben Island’s pristine reefs — some of the healthiest hard coral gardens in Raja Ampat. Afternoon visit to Arborek Village, a traditional Papuan community known for its tourism cooperative and handicrafts. Meet local women weaving noken bags (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage). Evening walk along Arborek’s white sand beach. Overnight at Arborek homestay.
Day 4: Batanta Island — Jungle & Waterfall Trek
Speedboat to Batanta Island, the least visited of the Four Kings. Morning jungle trek to a hidden waterfall — walk through primary rainforest where Birds of Paradise display at dawn. Your guide will point out the distinctive calls of the Red Bird of Paradise and Wilson’s Bird of Paradise. Cool off in the waterfall pool. Afternoon snorkeling at Batanta’s untouched reefs. Overnight at Batanta homestay.
Day 5: Sawinggrai Village & Bird of Paradise Dawn Watch
Pre-dawn departure (4:30 AM) to Sawinggrai Village for one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Trek into the forest in darkness, arriving at a display tree before sunrise. As the first light filters through the canopy, male Red Birds of Paradise begin their courtship dance — an explosion of crimson, emerald, and gold as they puff their elaborate plumage and perform acrobatic displays on their lek. This is evolution’s most extravagant show, and you have a front-row seat. Return to homestay for breakfast. Afternoon snorkeling or free time. Farewell dinner on the beach. Overnight at Kri Island.
Day 6: Depart Raja Ampat
Morning snorkeling at a final secret spot. Speedboat transfer back to Sorong. Afternoon departure from Domine Eduard Osok Airport. You leave with memories of the planet’s richest reefs and the rarest wildlife spectacle on Earth.
