Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Muscat
Airport transfer to your hotel. Gear check and adventure briefing. Evening walk through Muttrah Souk. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 2: Grand Mosque & Muscat Exploration
Morning visit to Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Afternoon at the Royal Opera House and Old Muscat forts. Practice hike in the hills surrounding Muscat with city and ocean views. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 3: Wadi Shab — Canyoning & Swimming
Full day at Wadi Shab. Hike 45 minutes through the canyon to reach the emerald pools. Swim through narrow passages to the hidden waterfall cave. Cliff jumping for the adventurous. Continue to the Bimmah Sinkhole for an afternoon swim. Overnight near Sur.
Day 4: Snake Canyon — Canyoning Adventure
Drive to Wadi Bani Awf, home to Snake Canyon — Oman’s premier canyoning destination. Full-day guided canyoning expedition: rappelling down waterfalls, swimming through narrow gorges, and sliding down natural rock chutes. Professional equipment and instruction included. No prior experience necessary but good fitness required. Overnight at Jebel Shams.
Day 5: Jebel Shams — Balcony Walk
Morning hike the famous Balcony Walk along the rim of Wadi Ghul (Oman’s Grand Canyon, 1,000m deep). Spectacular views of the canyon floor and abandoned village of As Sab below. Afternoon drive to Nizwa. Visit Nizwa Fort and the silver souk. Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 6: Jebel Akhdar — Mountain Hiking
Ascend to Jebel Akhdar (2,000m+). Full day hiking through the terraced rose gardens and ancient villages. Visit Diana’s Point, named after Princess Diana’s 1986 visit. Spectacular views across the Saiq Plateau. Rock climbing option for experienced climbers. Overnight at a mountain resort.
Day 7: Wahiba Sands — Desert Dune Bashing
Drive to the Wahiba Sands. 4×4 dune bashing across the highest dunes. Sandboarding down steep slopes. Camel ride at sunset. Traditional Bedouin dinner in camp. Overnight in a desert camp.
Day 8: Wadi Bani Khalid — Final Swim
Morning swim in the emerald pools of Wadi Bani Khalid, Oman’s most beautiful desert oasis. Return to Muscat. Airport transfer.
