Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Niamey
Airport transfer. Visit the National Museum and Grande Mosquée. Sunset Niger River cruise. Overnight in Niamey.
Day 2: Fly to Agadez — UNESCO Old Town
Flight to Agadez. Afternoon walking tour: Grand Mosque minaret (27m mud-brick), Sultan’s Palace, Tuareg silversmiths, camel market. Watch sunset from a rooftop terrace over the Sahara. Overnight in Agadez guesthouse.
Days 3-5: Aïr Mountains — Tuareg Encampments
Three days in the Aïr Mountains with Tuareg guides. Visit Timia oasis, hike through granite canyons, discover prehistoric rock art, and share tea with nomad families. Camel trek through wadis. Two nights desert camping.
Day 6: Return to Agadez — Crafts & Culture
Morning drive back to Agadez. Afternoon: visit artisan workshops — Tuareg silver jewelry, leatherwork, and the famous takouba swords. Evening Tuareg music performance — the tende drum and imzad violin traditions, both UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Overnight in Agadez.
Day 7: Return to Niamey
Fly back to Niamey. Visit the Grand Marché for Tuareg crafts, leather, and textiles. Farewell dinner on the Niger River. Overnight in Niamey.
Day 8: Depart
Airport transfer.
