Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Yangon Arrival & Shwedagon Sunset
Arrive at Yangon International Airport and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, experience the crown jewel of Myanmar — Shwedagon Pagoda. Walk barefoot across cool marble as the golden stupa shifts from amber to blazing orange and deep gold with the setting sun. Watch monks in deep red robes chant evening prayers, pilgrims offer flowers and water at planetary posts, and the pagoda slowly illuminate against the darkening sky. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon Downtown — Colonial Architecture & Markets
Full day exploring Yangon’s urban treasures. Begin at Sule Pagoda, the 2,500-year-old golden shrine at the city’s center. Walk through the colonial quarter: the Strand Hotel (a relic of the Raj era), the imposing red-brick High Court, and the Custom House on the riverfront. Visit Bogyoke Aung San Market, a covered bazaar of over 2,000 stalls — hunt for Burmese lacquerware, handwoven longyi, puppets, and precious rubies. Afternoon: Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda with its enormous reclining Buddha and Botataung Pagoda on the riverside. Evening stroll through Chinatown for Burmese street food. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 3: Kyaiktiyo Golden Rock, Scenic Countryside & Bago Temples
Depart early for a full-day excursion into Myanmar’s heartland. Drive through the Mon State countryside — rice paddies, toddy palm trees, and sleepy villages. Stop in Bago, the ancient Mon capital: visit the towering Shwemawdaw Pagoda and the serene Shwethalyaung Reclining Buddha. Continue to the base of Mount Kyaiktiyo and transfer to an open truck for the steep ascent to the Golden Rock. At the summit, witness the miraculous Kyaiktiyo Pagoda — a massive granite boulder, completely covered in gold leaf by centuries of devout pilgrims, balancing impossibly on the cliff’s edge. Legend says a single hair of the Buddha holds it in place. Men may apply gold leaf to the rock. The sunset views across the mountains are breathtaking. Return to Yangon in the evening. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 4: Return to Yangon & Departure
Morning at leisure — final opportunity to visit Bogyoke Market, sample Burmese tea and mohinga at a local tea house, or simply relax. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
