Day 1: Livingstone to Lochinvar
Morning pickup from Livingstone. Drive to Lochinvar National Park, a Ramsar wetland site on the Kafue Flats. Afternoon bird-watching walk with expert ornithologist guide. Spot wattled cranes, slaty egrets, and the park’s star attraction — thousands of Kafue lechwe antelope grazing on the floodplains. Sunset at Chunga Lagoon. Overnight at park lodge.
Day 2: Full Day Bird-Watching
Dawn birding session — the Kafue Flats support over 420 bird species. Major sightings may include: African skimmer, pink-backed pelican, Goliath heron, saddle-billed stork, and the rare shoebill (seasonal). Canoe excursion on the lagoon channels for waterfowl. Afternoon walk through floodplain grasslands. Record your sightings with the guide’s checklist. Overnight at park lodge.
Day 3: Morning Birding — Return
Final morning bird walk focusing on any missed species. Visit the hot springs (Gwisho) for unique thermal-adapted birdlife. Return to Livingstone by early afternoon.
