Day 1: Arrival in Broome — The Pearl of the North
Arrive at Broome International Airport where your representative greets you. Transfer to your hotel in this historic pearling town that sits at the western gateway to the Kimberley. Day 2: Broome Township Tour — Pearls, History & High Tea
Full-day guided township tour with experienced local guides. Morning: visit Cable Beach — 22km of white sand and turquoise water (swimming possible, be croc-aware). Continue to Gantheaume Point, where at low tide you can see 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints preserved in the red rock. Visit the Japanese Cemetery — the largest Japanese cemetery in Australia, testament to the 900+ Japanese pearl divers who died working Broome’s pearl beds between the 1880s and 1940s. Stop at Town Beach and the iconic Sun Pictures — the world’s oldest operating outdoor picture gardens (est. 1916). Today is dedicated to pearls — Broome’s defining industry. Coach transfer to Willie Creek Pearl Farm, 38km north of Broome on the pristine tidal estuary of Willie Creek. The guided tour covers the complete pearl cultivation process: from seeding and harvesting oysters to grading, valuing, and designing jewellery. Board a boat for a cruise on Willie Creek to see the live pearl oysters suspended in their natural environment. Visit the jewellery showroom where the finest South Sea pearls are on display. Learn how to judge a pearl’s value by its lustre, surface, shape, colour, and size. Return to Broome with the afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Broome.
Day 4: Dampier Peninsula — Cygnet Bay & Indigenous Communities
Full-day excursion to the Dampier Peninsula, travelling through pindan woodland — the distinctive red soil and acacia scrub of the Kimberley coast. Visit Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, Australia’s oldest pearl farm (established 1946), located on the tip of the peninsula. Continue to One Arm Point (Ardyaloon), an Aboriginal community perched on a narrow peninsula with turquoise water on both sides. Tour the trochus hatchery and aquaculture centre where the community sustainably farms pearls and trochus shell. Swim at Jologo Beach — pristine white sand and clear, warm water (stinger suit provided in season). The coastline here rivals anything in the Whitsundays but without the crowds. Return to Broome in the evening. Overnight in Broome.
Day 5: Buccaneer Explorer — Horizontal Falls & Cape Leveque
The tour’s highlight day: a spectacular scenic flight and adventure experience. Board a fixed-wing aircraft for a flight over King Sound, where the Kimberley’s 10-metre tides create dramatic whirlpools. Land at Talbot Bay and transfer to a powerful speedboat for the Horizontal Falls experience — one of the world’s great natural phenomena, where massive tidal movements force water through two narrow gorges, creating a horizontal waterfall effect described by David Attenborough as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world.” Fly over the Buccaneer Archipelago — 1,000+ islands of rugged sandstone, hidden beaches, and turquoise water. Pass over Koolan and Cockatoo Islands (iron ore mining islands). Enjoy lunch at the Ardyaloon Trochus Hatchery and Aquaculture Centre. Day 6: Broome at Leisure — Sunset Camel Ride
Day at leisure to explore Broome independently. Options: visit the Broome Historical Museum, browse the Courthouse Markets (weekends), swim at Cable Beach (in the safe zone between the flags), or try your luck fishing off the jetty. Late afternoon: the quintessential Broome experience — a sunset camel ride along Cable Beach. Ride one of the trained camels that have been operating here since the 1980s, padding along the wet sand as the sun sinks into the Indian Ocean in a blaze of orange and pink. This is the most photographed moment in Western Australia. Overnight in Broome.
Day 7: Departure
Breakfast and check-out. Transfer to Broome International Airport for departure. Take with you memories of pearls, horizontal waterfalls, dinosaur footprints, ancient gorges, and the colors of Cable Beach at sunset — the Kimberley’s magic stays with you.
