Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Caracas to Canaima — Gateway to the Lost World

Early morning flight from Caracas to Canaima National Park (UNESCO World Heritage). Arrive at the rustic airstrip surrounded by towering tepuis — the ancient table-top mountains that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost World.” Afternoon boat ride across Canaima Lagoon to visit Hacha Falls and Sapo Falls, where you can walk behind the thundering curtain of water. Overnight in a traditional camp with views of the tepuis.

Day 2: River Journey to Angel Falls

Depart at dawn in a motorized curiara (indigenous canoe) up the Carrao and Churún Rivers. The 4-5 hour journey winds through pristine rainforest, past orchids, toucans, and howler monkeys. Stop at Mayupa Rapids for a refreshing swim. Arrive at the base camp near Angel Falls. Afternoon hike through the jungle to the Mirador Laime viewpoint — your first glimpse of the world’s highest waterfall (979m/3,212ft). Camp overnight in hammocks with the sound of the falls in the distance.

Day 3: Angel Falls — Face to Face with the World’s Tallest Waterfall

Full day dedicated to Angel Falls. Morning hike (approximately 1.5 hours) through dense rainforest to reach the base of the falls. Stand at the foot of this natural wonder as water cascades from nearly a kilometer above, turning to mist before reaching the ground. Swim in the natural pools at the base. Continue to the Japanese Viewpoint for a panoramic perspective. Afternoon return to camp for dinner under the stars, with the silhouette of Auyán-tepui against the night sky.

Day 4: Return to Canaima — Indigenous Culture

Morning return journey downriver to Canaima. Visit a Pemón indigenous community to learn about their traditions, crafts, and deep connection to the tepuis. Afternoon at leisure to explore Canaima Lagoon, swim in its pink-sand beaches, or take an optional flight over Angel Falls (weather permitting) for a breathtaking aerial perspective. Farewell dinner featuring traditional Venezuelan cuisine — arepas, pabellón, and fresh river fish.

Day 5: Canaima to Caracas — Departure

Morning flight back to Caracas. Optional city tour of Caracas highlights: the historic center, Bolívar Square, the National Pantheon, and the cable car to El Ávila mountain for panoramic city views. Transfer to airport for departure. Take home memories of the world’s tallest waterfall and the mystical tepuis of the Guiana Highlands.
