Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrive Kabul
Arrive and transfer. Afternoon orientation, safety briefing, and evening food walk. Overnight in Kabul.
Day 2: Kabul Highlights
Babur’s Gardens, National Museum, Chicken Street, Bala Hissar fortress, and Tapa Maranjan views. Evening at a chaikhana for tea and conversation with locals. Overnight in Kabul.
Day 3: Panjshir Valley — Valley of Resistance
Full-day excursion to the Panjshir Valley, the legendary stronghold that never fell — first against the Soviets, then against the Taliban. Drive through the narrow entrance gorge, past the wreckage of Soviet tanks and helicopters, into the stunningly beautiful 100km-long valley. Visit the tomb of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the “Lion of Panjshir.” Picnic by the Panjshir River. Overnight in Kabul.
Day 4: Salang Pass & Shamali Plains
Drive the legendary Salang Pass (3,878m), one of the world’s highest roads through the Hindu Kush, connecting northern and southern Afghanistan. Visit the Shamali Plains, once Afghanistan’s breadbasket before decades of conflict. Overnight in Kabul.
Day 5-6: Bamiyan & Band-e-Amir
Two days in the Bamiyan Valley: Buddha niches, Shahr-e Gholghola, Shahr-e Zohak, and the stunning Band-e-Amir lakes. Overnights in Bamiyan.
Day 7: Return to Kabul
Drive back through the Hindu Kush with stops at traditional villages. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Kabul.
Day 8: Depart Afghanistan
Transfer to airport.
