Day 1: Arrival in Khartoum — Nile Confluence & Sunset

Arrive at Khartoum International Airport where your guide meets you with a warm Sudanese welcome. Day 2: Omdurman — Mahdi’s Tomb, Souk & Dervish Ceremony

Cross the White Nile Bridge to Omdurman, Khartoum’s historic twin and Sudan’s former capital. Begin at the silver-domed Mahdi’s Tomb, the resting place of Muhammad Ahmad (1844–1885), the religious leader who proclaimed himself the Mahdi (Guided One) and led a successful revolt against Ottoman-Egyptian rule. His forces famously defeated British General Charles Gordon at Khartoum. Next, visit the Khalifa House Museum, the former residence of the Mahdi’s successor, filled with fascinating artifacts from the Mahdist period: battle standards, weapons, period photographs, and Gordon’s personal effects. Then immerse yourself in Omdurman Souk — Sudan’s largest and most vibrant market. Day 3: Khartoum’s Cultural Heart — Museums & Nuba Wrestling

Begin the day at the Ethnographic Museum, which celebrates Sudan’s extraordinary ethnic and cultural diversity. Sudan is home to over 500 ethnic groups speaking more than 100 languages. The museum’s displays cover the Nubian, Beja, Fur, Nuba, Baggara, and many other cultures. Life-size dioramas show traditional houses from each region, musical instruments, clothing, and daily life artifacts. Continue to the Republican Palace Museum, housed in a former Anglican cathedral, documenting Sudan’s modern political history. After lunch at a traditional restaurant, explore the modern Khartoum 2 district with its galleries and cafes. In the late afternoon, cross to Bahri (North Khartoum) to watch traditional Nuba wrestling (held Fridays, Saturdays, or Wednesdays). Nuba wrestling is one of Africa’s oldest sporting traditions — wrestlers from the Nuba Mountains, their bodies coated in ash or oil, compete in a ritual that combines athleticism, dance, and community celebration. The atmosphere is electric with drumming, singing crowds, and the wrestlers’ elaborate warm-up dances. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 4: Final Explorations & Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning.
