Day 1: Arrival in Belgrade — Welcome to the White City

Arrive at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG). Your representative meets you for transfer to your 4-star hotel in central Belgrade. After settling in, embark on an introductory walking tour of Belgrade’s historic core. Walk along Knez Mihailova Street, the main pedestrian thoroughfare lined with 19th-century buildings, cafes, and shops. Visit Republic Square, the city’s central meeting point dominated by the National Museum and the equestrian statue of Prince Mihailo. Continue to the Bohemian quarter of Skadarlija, Belgrade’s Montmartre — a cobblestoned street of traditional kafanas (taverns) where poets, artists, and musicians have gathered since the 19th century. Evening: welcome dinner at a traditional kafana in Skadarlija with live tamburitza music and rakija tasting. Overnight in Belgrade.

Day 2: Belgrade — Kalemegdan Fortress & St. Sava Temple

Morning: explore Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, the city’s most iconic landmark. Perched at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, this 2,000-year-old fortress has been the stage for 115 battles and was destroyed and rebuilt over 40 times. Walk the ramparts for panoramic views of the river confluence and the Great War Island nature reserve. Visit the Roman Well, the Despot’s Gate, the Clock Tower, and the Victor Monument (Pobednik) — Belgrade’s symbolic landmark. Then visit St. Sava Temple, the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans and one of the largest in the world. Its gleaming white marble and granite exterior is crowned with a massive central dome, while the magnificent interior mosaics covering 15,000 square meters were completed in 2021. Afternoon: visit the Museum of Yugoslavia and the House of Flowers, the final resting place of Marshal Josip Tito. Evening: optional sunset river cruise on the Danube and Sava rivers. Overnight in Belgrade.

Day 3: Belgrade to Novi Sad — The Serbian Athens

After breakfast, drive to Novi Sad (approximately 1.5 hours), the capital of Vojvodina province. Cross the Danube via the Varadin Bridge for a stunning approach to the city. Begin at Petrovaradin Fortress, the “Gibraltar on the Danube” — a massive 18th-century Austro-Hungarian fortification built on a volcanic rock overlooking the river. Explore the underground military galleries, walk the ramparts, visit the iconic Clock Tower with its reversed hands (big hand shows hours, small hand shows minutes), and enjoy panoramic views of Novi Sad and the Danube. Descend to the pedestrian zone in the city center. Visit Liberty Square (Trg Slobode) with the neo-Renaissance City Hall and the neo-Gothic Name of Mary Catholic Church. Walk Zmaj Jovina and Dunavska streets, lined with pastel-colored Habsburg-era buildings. Afternoon: visit the Danube promenade and Strand Beach, one of Europe’s finest urban river beaches. Evening: dinner at a traditional restaurant overlooking the Danube. Overnight in Novi Sad.

Day 4: Sremski Karlovci & Golubac Fortress

Morning: short drive to Sremski Karlovci, a charming Baroque town on the slopes of Fruska Gora. Visit the Patriarchal Palace, the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and the first Serbian secondary school (Gymnasium of Karlovci, founded 1791). Stop at the Chapel of Peace where the Treaty of Karlowitz was signed in 1699. Visit a local wine cellar for a tasting of Bermet, the famous aromatic dessert wine unique to this region that was once served on the Titanic and at European royal courts. Afternoon: drive along the Danube to Golubac Fortress (approximately 2-3 hours), one of the most dramatic medieval fortresses in Europe. This 14th-century fortress guards the entrance to the Iron Gates gorge, with nine towers connected by massive stone walls stretching down to the Danube. Explore Palace Tower, Hat Tower, and the restored inner fortification area. The newest exhibition center inside the fortress uses interactive displays to tell its turbulent history. Return to Belgrade in the evening. Overnight in Belgrade.

Day 5: Departure from Belgrade

After breakfast, enjoy a final walk through Belgrade’s streets. If time permits, visit the Zemun district with its charming old town, the Gardoš Millennium Tower offering panoramic Danube views, and the riverside promenade with its famous fish restaurants. Transfer to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport for your departure flight, carrying memories of Serbia’s warm hospitality, rich history, and stunning Danube landscapes.
