Day 5: Jaipur to Bikaner
Drive to Bikaner (5 hrs). Afternoon: Junagarh Fort — an unconquered fortress with stunning courtyard palaces. Visit Karni Mata Temple (the “Rat Temple”) where 25,000 black rats are considered sacred and worshipped. Daring visitors search for a rare white rat — spotting one brings immense luck. Day 6: Bikaner to Jaisalmer — The Golden City
Drive to Jaisalmer (5 hrs) through the expanding Thar Desert. Arrive at the Golden Fort — India’s only living fort where 3,000 residents still live, work, and pray within 12th-century walls. Walk its narrow lanes past Jain temples with sandstone carvings so fine they resemble lace, and havelis (merchant mansions) with exquisite latticed windows. Sunset on the fort ramparts as the stone glows honey-gold against the desert sky. Overnight Jaisalmer.
Day 7: Jaisalmer Desert Safari
Morning: explore Patwon-ki-Haveli architecture and Gadisar Lake — an artificial oasis built in 1367 surrounded by temples and shrines. Afternoon: drive to the Sam Sand Dunes (45 km). Mount your camel for a sunset safari across rolling dunes up to 30 meters high. Arrive at your desert camp as the sun sinks below the horizon. Day 8: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

Day 9: Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur
