8-Day Ultimate Okavango to Chobe: Private Camping Safari

Day 1: Maun to Okavango Delta Camp

Arrive Maun. Meet your private guide and camp crew. Transfer to the edge of the Delta where mokoros await. Glide through papyrus channels to your private mobile camp on a remote island — no other tourists, no fences, just you and the wild. Afternoon nature walk. Candle-lit dinner under the stars. Overnight wild camping.

Day 2: Full Day Okavango Delta Immersion

Dawn walking safari tracking elephants, zebra, and giraffe on foot. Learn to read tracks, identify birds, and understand the intricate Delta ecosystem. Afternoon mokoro excursion through channels where hippos surface and African fish eagles call from treetops. Swim in a crystal-clear channel (crocodile-free, your guide ensures). Sundowners on the mokoro. Overnight wild camping.

Day 3: Delta to Khwai Concession

Sunrise mokoro back to the station. Transfer by 4×4 to Khwai Concession — one of Africa’s finest predator-viewing areas. Set up camp near the Khwai River. Afternoon game drive: the river attracts elephants, buffalo, and the predators that follow them. Excellent chances for leopard in the riverine forest. Overnight Khwai camping.

Day 4: Full Day Khwai — Predator Territory

Full-day exploration of Khwai. Morning drive tracking African wild dogs — Khwai has several resident packs that den in the area. Visit the famous hippo pools and search for the rare Pel’s fishing owl in the riverine canopy. Afternoon drive on the open floodplains for cheetah. Night drive (Khwai permits after-dark game drives) to spot leopard, genet, civet, and the strange springhare. Overnight Khwai camping.

Day 5: Khwai to Savuti — The Stolen River

Cross the Mababe Depression to Savuti — one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife theaters. The Savuti Channel famously dried up for 30 years before mysteriously flowing again in 2008. The Savuti Marsh hosts extraordinary predator dynamics: the famous lion pride that learned to hunt elephants, exceptional cheetah viewing, and large spotted hyena clans. Afternoon game drive. Overnight Savuti camping.

Day 6: Savuti to Chobe River Front

Morning game drive in Savuti searching for the resident lion pride. After breakfast, continue north to the Chobe River Front. The contrast is dramatic — from Savuti’s arid savanna to Chobe’s lush riverine paradise. Afternoon boat cruise: watch elephant families swimming across channels, buffalo herds hundreds strong drinking at the water’s edge, and enormous Nile crocodiles basking on sandbanks. The Chobe sunset is legendary. Overnight Chobe lodge.

Day 7: Full Day Chobe National Park

Dawn game drive along the Chobe River — elephants by the hundreds come to drink in the cool morning light. Chobe hosts an estimated 120,000 elephants. After breakfast, a morning boat cruise offers a different perspective: hippos, crocodiles, and an extraordinary diversity of waterbirds including African skimmers and carmine bee-eaters (seasonal). Afternoon game drive to different sectors of the park. Farewell dinner. Overnight Chobe lodge.

Day 8: Chobe Sunrise & Departure

Optional final sunrise activity — game drive or boat cruise. Transfer to Kasane Airport. Option to extend to Victoria Falls (80km away).
